1.how did the band form?

Mike – Lets see, I met Tom C at a party, Trent at a bar, Tom Ack’s old band played with our old band a few times. Only 2 bass players turned up to try out for the band. One guy brought his 12 string bass, Trent brought a 12 pack of Budweiser. The decision was easily made based on those 2 facts alone. The first time I met Ackerman I drunkenly accused him of ripping off the guitar and vocal style of Skiploader, of whom I was a big fan, but not a big enough fan to know that they had broken up and Ackerman was in fact the front man of Skiploader before he was in Neighborly. He thought (rightly) that I was a dunken asshole and I slithered back to the bar. For some reason we became friends. I’m still not sure why.

2.what were your major influnces?

Mike – Old Creation Records bands-Swervedriver, My Bloody Valentine, Boo Radleys, Ride, etc. Plus lots of american indie rock-Jawbox, Barkmarket, Superchunk, Fugazi, Dinosaur Jr., Failure

Tom – SUB-POP, DISCORD, SST & HEDHUNTER RECORDS

3.if you could have a three band bill who would they be?

Mike -Jimi Hendrix, the Clash, the Who (stick with dead people. they’re the only ones who remain cool for more than a year)

Tom – ELP, ELO, & EMF

4. what music do you class yourselves as?

Mike -Rock. Any embellishments (melodic, smart, blahblahblah) invariably sound stupid. A drum kit, bass rig, and 2 half stacks=a rock band, no matter what little sub-genres people want to invent.

Tom – POST-HARDCORE/INDY/EMO

5. where do you think you will be in 10 years?

Mike – I’m not even sure about 10 days from now.

Tom – PROBABLY IN THE PTA

6. what has been your best gig you have played so far?

Mike – Every gig is the best gig. Whether there’s 2 people or 2000.

Tom – WHEN WE OPENED FOR METALLICA AT THE MTV MVA’S. OH, THAT WASN’T US, MY BAD…

7. what made you want to go out and play music?

the lure of girls drugs and other miscellaneous free stuff

8. what your fav type of beer?

Mike – Pabst Blue Ribbon or Miller High Life

Tom – I DON’T DRINK

9. who would most like to record a song with?

Mike – Johnny Cash. again with the dead people. sorry.

Tom – SILVERCHAIR. BUT MOSTLY SO I CAN BRUSH THEIR HAIR.

10. any new releases in the pipeline?

NOT YET. WE HAVE RECORDED A CD ENTITLED “METHOD: FAIL, REPEAT” THAT SHOULD BE RELEASED IN MID/LATE FEBRUARY. WE’RE JUST FINALIZING OUR INDIE DEAL AS WE SPEAK.
