1. How did did you get into music?

I’ve been singing since as long as I can remember.  I sang through school with choirs and even studied music industry in college.  It has always been my first love and honestly, will remain the most important thing to me.  (besides family, of course) 🙂

2. What has been the highlight so far?

Freedom!  There’s nothing like getting up on stage and sharing your songs with people.  Music unleashes the soul and promotes happiness and hope! It’s the most natural high!.. Aw, i sound like sucha hippie.

3. How did it feel to win the support slot opening up for Gavin Degraw and Vanessa Carlton?

It was absolutely incredible!  It was honestly a dream come true and makes me truly believe that anything is possible with work and dedication.  The coolest thing about it was the crowd.  People that come to concerts with an open heart are the best people to rock for.  They love every minute of it and that is the biggest reward as a musician.

4. What inspires you when writing music?

Everything!  Many of my songs definitely come from my experiences.  Sometimes it is just a feeling I’ve had for a split second, or sometimes about a friend.  The cool thing about music is it can be about anything!  An artistic outlet that can take any form.  For me though, I like writing about how I feel at the moment.  It’s a sort of therapy… allows me to understand myself a bit better.

5. What was the inspiration for the ep?

The songs on the EP were about 5-6 years of lyrics that were written in my journal.  It really encapsulated relationships and learning experiences I went though in college.  It was actually quite nostalgic in a way.  As for ‘Beautiful Day’, I jsut wanted to write a happy song that EVERYONE could relate to and we’ve had much success with that!

6. Who have you enjoyed playing with recently?

Local musicians/producers/fellow friends.  They are your biggest supporters and inspirations.  It’s a beautiful thing sharing music with people.  They help your songs come alive.  Without the perfect pieces, a terrific song wouldn’t be possible.  You need every component.

7. What it is the scene like where you are from?

Very diverse.  That is what is great about Pittsburgh, PA.  Some much culture from Appalachia to the urbanity.  The jazz scene was also HUGE here back in the heyday so we have so many talented, innovative, and cultures people here.  Its fun experiencing it all cook in big pot.

8. How has social networking helped your music?

These days, you cannot do it without social networking.  You are able to get the word out about shows, new records, and news so much quicker, on a wider scale.  There really is nothing like it.  It IS the indie-music culture now.

9. What advice could you give to some one wanting to give a career in a music a shot?

If you are going to do it, give it your all, and never let anyone bring you down, no matter what!  Stay true to yourself and with dedication and work ethic, you will surely be successful.  Never let anyone convince you otherwise!

10. How has touring helped your music?

It helps spread ur music everywhere!  Getting yourself out there is key!  It is also great practice for stage performance.  Pushes your act to the next level because you learn how to read and entertain different types of people.

11. Who would the band most like to work with or play with?

Gavin DeGraw!  Tedeschi Trucks Band, Grace Potter, Adam Levine (Maroon 5), Black Keys, Grace Potter, Miranda Lambert.

13. What is next for yourself?

Just keepin’ on, keepin’ on!  Continuing the momentum!  The sky’s the limit!
