Two new amazing Canadian acts to check out and are worth your time listening to.
Julian Daniel is a 19-year-old Canadian pop singer from Toronto, ON. Growing up in a musical household, he has been involved in the creative arts since a young age. Harbouring his unique talents that vary from graphic design to music and fashion, Julian has honed an image and sound that is uniquely his own.
His new track “Lemontree” is the first release from his upcoming debut E-Boy EP. It’s a dance-y, euphoric summer single about that one person, scent or place that makes you feel content and brings you back to a moment in time when everything felt perfect.
Mike Riley picked up the guitar when all his friends were skateboarding. Music was his way into the crowd. Though he didn’t know it at the time, Riley was a natural songwriter and soon dropped the Dashboard Confessional covers to begin writing and recording in his high school bedroom.
His new song “Marriage” is an honest, folk-driven track about recognizing that any fulfilling relationship (a job, a friendship, a romantic partner) takes work and a conscious decision to stick it out. Though the song was inspired by his own experiences, the video centres around Toronto drag artist, BOA. It is a dark, glittery vignette about pursuing what you love and the moments that make it all worthwhile.
