Sunday Driver Interview

Sunday Driver

Alex From Sunday Driver Answers My Questions

1.how did the band form?

Well me and the bass player (arnold) formed a band called makeshift in

1994. we were a three piece band at the time. As things progressed we

added a second guitar player (charlie). Then in 1999 we got a new

drummer. And we changed the name to Sunday driver. And its been that

ever since.

2.what were your major influnces?

At the beginning I was totally influenced by nirvana.as a matter of fact

for the first couple of months that we were a band and were just

learning our instruments all we did was cover nirvana songs.we also are

huge fans of quicksand, the beatles ,rush just all kinds of good music.

3.if you could have a three band bill who would they be?

Sunday driver the foo fighters and rival schools.

4. what music do you class yourselves as?

We like to say that we are just a rock band with many outside

influences.we are not emo, we are not punk, we are not pop, or hardcore

we just want to be a band that has good songs and rocks.

5. where do you think you will be in 10 years?

Its hard to say in this business .i just hope that I can make a living

off of playing in my band . I don’t want to be rich . I dont want to be

a huge star . I just want to be a respected musician and have the band

pay for my rent and food that’s all.

6. what has been your best gig you have played so far?

Our cd release show in march was awesome. there was a full house and we

never have sold so much merchandise that was cool. And we also got the

chance to play with burning airlines who has j robbins of jawbox which

was awesome to watch and to share a stage with.

7. what made you want to go out and play music?

When I was 12 years old I bought my first electric guitar and amp. And I

wanted to be in a hardcore band so bad. I learned every sick of it all

song that there was at the time . and then when I realized that I didn’t

just have to listen to hardcore only and that there was other kinds of

music out there that was good also ,thats when I started writing my own

songs and started to get a band together.

8. what your fav type of beer?

Anything that gets you drunk. no just kidding but samuel adams had this

great beer called cherry wheat and it is the best beer that I have ever

tasted.its like berrys and beer as you can tell im not a very manly

drinker.

9. who would most like to record a song with?

Either walter from quicksand or ken andrews of failure

10. what has been the highlight of playing in sunday driver?

I guess that it would be having the chance to make a video. That is

something that we never thought that we would do. And we had such a good

time making it. And the fact that the video is doing well here in the

states. its all more than we ever thought that we would accomplish.
