1.What made you want to be an actress?

My parents directed and choreographed theater in the San
Francisco Bay Area and had a Flamenco Troup when I was
growing up, so I was immersed in the world of performance
from a very young age. I found a niche in acting.

2. Who were your idols growing up?

Madonna and “Chorus Line” when I was 10. Anais Nin when I was
17. Ayn Rand when I was 20. My mom and my dad and my
brother.

3. Would you go overseas for a role in a film or theater
work?

Sure. I have made a life out of following adventure.

4. What was it like working with Kevin Smith and
Christopher Lloyd?

They are both really talented interesting people. I could go
on and on, I suppose; about the nature of their characters-
really I respect them both as men and creative talents. And
I’m so happy to know them.

5. If you could work with any body who would it
be?

Kate Winslet, Spike Jones, Naomi Watts, Benecio Del Toro,
Javier Bardem, Milos Forman, Pedro Almodovar, to name a
few.

6. What have been some of your favorite roles to
play?

I loved playing the character of Jean in my new movie
“Family.” She is a flawed, yet extremely brave woman who goes
through huge ranges of emotion and circumstance, and finally
makes a good choice at the end. Some of my other favorite
roles have been Trish in “Mallrats,” Hillary in “FUN,” and
Didi in “The Sex Monster.” Oh, also Hayley in the episode of
“The Wonder Years” that I did many years ago.

7. What are some of your favourite movies?

I have such a large and eclectic group of favorites, let’s
see: Clerks, Raging Bull, The Unbearable Lightness of Being,
Blue, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Days of Heaven,
Zoolander, Sex, Lies, and Videotape, Ran, Talk to Her, and
the list goes on…

8. What movies you have seen lately you have really
enjoyed?

I really enjoyed “Million Dollar Baby,” “The Sea Inside,” and
recently saw “Jackie Brown” for the first time and dug
it.

9. What is it like producing films compared to acting in
them?

Producing a film is a much longer engagement with one project
and the team involved creating it-, which I thoroughly enjoy.
It’s great to get to be a part of constructing the film in
pre-production and post, as well as production.

10. Why get into producing in the first place?

I’ve always been driven to be a filmmaker as well as an
actress and producing is the most conducive way to do both. I
also tried my hand at writing and directing and found that my
true strength lay in producing and acting.

11. What are your thoughts on studio remaking
movies?

I think that art is a constantly evolving organism and
applaud all attempts. I do think there are some films that
stand alone, and because of this the remake generally
suffers.

12. What are your favourite genres of movies?/b>

I’ve responded to films of all genres. I don’t have a
favorite.

13. Who have you enjoyed working with the most?

Probably Kevin Smith, Carl Franklin and Lawrence
Kasdan.

14. What were some of your favourite TV shows growing
up?

“Three’s Company,” “Starsky and Hutch,” “WKRP in Cincinnati”
and “The Avengers.”

15. What your view on realty TV? Good Or Bad?

Again, sometimes people pull it off, sometimes they
don’t.

16. What have you got lined up next?

I am actually pitching a Reality/Documentary style TV show,
and the film company Titan that I am a co-founder of is
selecting its next feature, but no decisions have been
finalized.

17. Do you get recognized a lot for being in
Mallrats?

Sometimes…

18. What’s in your stereo at the moment?

Missy Elliot- “This is not a Test.”

Special thanks to Renee Humphrey for doing it
