Ian Arden, the twenty-something Toronto troubadour was raised in a French Canadian and Moroccan household. When Ian began speaking as a toddler, he struggled with a stammer. Speech therapy showed meager results at best, so his father began teaching him to recite song lyrics from memory, mainly focusing on the songs of Leonard Cohen, Paul Simon and Bob Dylan. Every night, a new song was chosen, and Ian would repeat the song’s lyrics again and again until they were recited in their entirety with no stammer and no accent.

For Ian, his debut single, “Nadia,” was written in one emotional and traumatic night. The song is about compassion and concern for a loved one who is struggling with opioids or mental health. “Nadia” serves as a reminder that there is a light at the end of the tunnel.

Canberra based Metalcore outfit A World In Colour are back with the release of their emotive new single ‘In The Blue’, which was premiered via
AAA Backstage.

The band have also announced that they will be sharing the stage with industry heavyweights Unearth on Jan 24th at The Basement, Canberra.

New single ‘In The Blue’ focuses on the grief associated with losing someone.

In The Blue is a song about losing someone but being trapped by the memory of them. Sometimes memories of someone you’ve lost can be beautiful and meaningful but we wanted to explore the darker/sadder side of being haunted by memories that you can’t escape and feeling overwhelmed that it becomes hard to remember the good that person brought to your life.”

A World In Colour blasted onto the scene in late 2021 with their single ‘Descent’ – an attack on the government’s lack of interest in protecting the country and its people during the 2020 bushfire crisis. The band then followed-up in 2022 with the release of their hard-hitting single called ‘Break Me’, which premiered exclusively via Hysteria Mag.

The single received praise from Triple J staff and was aired on over 50 radio stations across the globe.

New single ‘In The Blue’ is available on all major online stores and streaming services.

“Really nice slice of metalcore here with some warm key sounds filtering through like sunlight in a mausoleum. Keen to keep hearing you push the boundaries.”
Tommy Faith – Triple J

Christian Turner is a Canadian indie rock act out of Toronto with Christian Turner (Teenage Kicks) on vocals and guitar, Jeff Takahashi on bass, Gavin McCleod and Mitchell Dunn on guitars, and Konrad Commisso on the drums.

The new year brings their debut single, in which they create a dark dreamy atmosphere with sludgy stoner rock melodies. “Nobody But You” explores the ups and downs of an abstract love, feeling helpless to its irresistible pull.

Toronto-based multi-instrumentalist and vocalist Shanti Abbott, also known as Puma June, evokes a hopeful sadness through her introspective songwriting. The self-taught pianist, guitarist, and Suzuki-trained violinist, has a dreamy yet rich, experimental chamber-pop style, with a sprinkle of R&B.

An “emerging Canadian artist you need to hear” (Exclaim!), her elegant voice and focus on women’s rights and familial trauma combine to produce melodies that are both heart-wrenchingly ethereal and powerfully transformational. June’s intimate new song “Holy” views vulnerability as strength, an empowering anthem dedicated to women and non-binary people searching for self-love as they rediscover their value.
