Selfish Bodies are a female lead alternative pop rock trio based in Edmonton, AB, who combine their love of writing with genre-blending, cinematic soundscapes and thoughtful lyrics. They believe music is a universal language. What does the band want to say? Whatever their listeners need to hear. Selfish Bodies‘ goal is to connect with their listeners through the creation of relatable and heartfelt content.

Cathartic new single, “Bambi Legs,” was inspired by insecurity. When self consciousness rears its ugly head, it can lead to a lot of fear and second guessing. This is a lonely feeling yet we are oddly united in it as we all feel this way at least sometimes. The duality of the feelings in the lyrics through the instrumentation is magnified as the song sways back and forth between a heaviness to a more lightheartedness.

Evolving from rock origins, The Lad Classic pull from the familiar and add their own flavour to create something deeper. Combining influences from soul to pop, gospel to funk, the trio recently completed their forthcoming debut EP with producer Dave Schiffman (The Strumbellas, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Audioslave, Adele, Rage Against the Machine). Their debut single, “Oh Me,” is putting the band’s name on the map, with support from outlets such as Sportsnet, 102.1 The Edge, Hockey Night in Canada & more.

Latest offering, “New Emotion,” is a funky song about finding that person that makes you feel things you haven’t felt before. That internal conflict of wanting to go all in before knowing what you are getting into, but at the same time the logical side of you says “hold back, don’t come on too strong. This could be something good.”

The new era-spanning dream-pop band from Hamilton, ON – Linebeck aims to find the push-and-pull between happy vivacity and nostalgic melancholy. Formed one month before the world stopped, Linebeck spent their first years as a band writing and workshopping songs remotely. Although it would have been easy to call it a day, Linebeck felt they had something too special to give up.

Their third single, “Waste My Time,” was actually written before the band ever came together. Lead vocalist Chrys and guitarist Momo used to perform as an acoustic ukulele-guitar duo, but felt that their songwriting and what they wanted to accomplish from a production stand-point started to reach beyond just “Chrys and Momo.” Momo started collecting guitar pedals, Chrys bought an analogue synth, and “Waste My Time” was the first song they wrote with these new sounds in mind.

Perth based Punk Rock outfit Indigo Blaze have released their new single ‘Emteevee’, which was premiered via AAA Backstage. The lads have also announced a small run of local shows to celebrate the release.

With a recent WA Music Song of the Year nomination for their single ‘Locals Only’, the band quickly reentered the studio to record their new single ‘Emteevee’. The single was recorded at Blackbird Studios with Dave Parkin (Sly Withers & Spacey Jane) and is summer lovin’ anthem with the unique blaze twist they are known for.

“Emteevee is another classic party starter with a soaring chorus and hard-hitting bridge section that will get your head nodding. Living in Perth, Melbourne can always steal your girl.”

Meshing Rock and Hip-Hop with a huge dose of ‘party anthem’, Indigo Blaze brings a unique live show that has been running through WA since 2019. Since debuting, the band have amassed multiple releases under their belts and developed a cult-like following on the Perth scene.

Having shared the stage with such heavyweights as Ocean GroveGyroscope,
The Southern River BandShangrila, and Pretty Uglys at some of Perth’s biggest venues including Freo.SocialJack Rabbit Slims and The Rechabite.

New single ‘Emteevee’ is available on all major online stores and streaming services.

Both Lesley Pike‘s songwriting and production skills have progressed throughout the crafting of her new, two-volume album, WILDWILD (Vol. 1) finds a new resilience for the Toronto and London, UK based Pike, who mined her own vulnerability to craft these complex songs.

Wild,” the album’s title track, is an organic and airy piece of folk pop which reflects on children’s sense of abandon and the freedom which Pike has found within herself. It’s a song about taking the time to reflect and really trust in oneself.

Formed in late 2021, Velvet Beach are an independent band from Toronto. Originally formed by members of Newcomer, Matias Gutierrez and Martin Camara were then joined by Sean Stover (Silus, The Honeycomb Flyers) and Meagan Aversa. Existing somewhere between shoegaze, dream pop, and new wave, Velvet Beach strive for authenticity without forgetting some of their core influences such as The Cure, Beach House, and Slowdive.

Their second single, “Home (Is It True?),” is a dream pop tune that feels like the beginning of a love story but whose lyrics evoke melancholic images of doubt and uncertainty.

Lead vocalist Matias Gutierrez was inspired to write the song after reading an article about the effects of the pandemic on the lives of independent artists in North America. He sympathized with the feelings of frustration and helplessness particularly through his own experiences during the pandemic and feeling like he wasn’t in control of his own life.
