Following the announcement of his new album, The Afterlife Sessions (out April 24th, 2026), and its first single, “At the Bridge,” Canadian singer-songwriter Allen Dobb shares “Lone Tree of Your Heart,” a contemplative, uplifting folk/roots single that captures the quiet longing and joy of connection to both place and memory. The track draws inspiration from Dobb’s forested home in British Columbia, and thoughts about returning to a life back on the family farm after years of being away.

“I live in a beautiful, forested area, and every day I walk in the forest, climb the hills, and go to favourite open spots where I can see the sky above and the valleys below,” Dobb explains. “The song came from a feeling of longing; wanting to be out on the road, touring more, but also enjoying being at home and finding contentment with a simple lifestyle.” In the song, that idea is held in the story of a young man who returns to take over his family ranch after going out into the world to find adventure.

Born in Montreal’s DIY scene, Empty Melon (the solo project of Ada Lea bassist/producer Summer Kodama) introduces her debut single “Hoping to Find,” a cinematic, mellow, and emotionally introspective track that drifts between consciousness and dream. Rooted in ambient folk textures and experimental sensibility, the song captures a moment of creative reclamation and quiet self-renewal.

The first demo emerged in May 2024, shortly after Summer played bass for Michael Feuerstack. “It was such a fast, in/out type of experience,” she recalls. “I really enjoyed his music; he had a song called ‘Disenchanted’ that totally charmed me.” Inspired by the musicians around her, including Tim Crabtree and Erika Angell, Summer bought her first acoustic guitar from Tim before he relocated to Berlin. “I went home and the first iteration of this song was one of the first things to come out.”

At the time, she had been feeling burnt out from working as a side musician across multiple Montreal projects. “Writing this song helped me regain myself,” she says.

SCS Cello Ensemble presents “Hymne à l’amour,” a romantic and cinematic live arrangement of Édith Piaf’s timeless classic, reimagined for eight cellos. Recorded live, the performance carries both intimacy and power, offering a familiar melody and new emotional depth through the unified voice of a single instrumental family.

This release is deeply connected to the documentary Where Music Grows (Et klassisk liv), which follows Scandinavian Cello School (SCS) and its founder Jacob Shaw over five transformative years. Within the film’s narrative, the ensemble returns to the hospital where Shaw was treated for cancer, performing for staff and patients. In that context, “Hymne à l’amour” becomes more than a performance, standing as a gesture of gratitude, resilience, and unwavering love.

Emerging pop artist Eric Reinhart drops “Chances,” an electric and energetic new single that captures the feeling of standing at the edge of possibility and choosing to leap. Rooted in gratitude and forward momentum, the track reflects on the improbability of simply being here, alive, creating, moving, and refusing to waste that opportunity.

“I started thinking about the chances of me being here, doing what I’m doing, being alive in this exact moment, and it honestly made me feel really grateful,” Reinhart shares. “I caught myself thinking, ‘what are the chances?’ That question stuck with me. The song came from that place of awe, realizing how unlikely and special this moment is, and not wanting to waste it.”

9X JUNO Award winners Arkells release the breezy summertime-feeling single “Ride” (feat. GROUPLOVE) via Universal Music Canada and Virgin Music Group. “Ride” is the 4th release from Arkells forthcoming album Between Us, due April 17th. The track pairs GROUPLOVE’s signature balance of soft vocals and punching falsettos, with Arkells’ comforting indie-pop groove.

“On its face, the song is about riding a bike in the city,” admits frontman Max Kerman. “That unbridled feeling of pedaling along to the song in your head.  But beneath the surface, the bike’s a metaphor. When life tries to bribe you with a litany of material things, can a simple, utilitarian object like a bicycle be all you need? We asked GROUPLOVE to join us because when Christian and Hannah sing together, we feel a chemical reaction to their voices. That pure, explosive freedom we needed in the song.”

North Queensland based Alt/Rock outfit Slippery Gypsy are back again with the release of their hard-hitting new single called ‘Poison Love’, which premiered exclusively via The Point Music News

“Poison Love is about addiction in all its forms — whether that’s a relationship, a substance, or a pattern you keep running back to even when you know it’s wrecking you. It’s that space between denial and self-awareness — pretending you’re fine while quietly wondering if anyone makes it out the other side.”

Hailing from country towns across Australia, Slippery Gypsy are known for their
down-to-earth vibe, unfiltered songwriting, and passionate live shows. Their mix of Rock Grit, Pop sensibilities and musicianship creates a unique style driven by singer Luke’s distinct, powerful vocals.

Slippery Gypsy recently released their soaring single called ‘Stranger’, which premiered exclusively via AAA Backstage. The single was aired on over 100 radio stations worldwide and received coverage from the likes of Good Call LiveAustralian Music Scene, HEAVY MagLearn Two Exist and AMNplify. With seven singles already released, the band is now sitting on three unreleased tracks that they believe are a cut above anything they’ve done before.

New single ‘Poison Love’ is available on all major online streaming services.
