Sydney-based Alt Pop trio Heterochromia have just unleashed their intoxicating new single ‘Just Like Magic’, which premiered exclusively via AAA Backstage. 

Bright, cheeky and painfully self-aware, ‘Just Like Magic’captures the delusion of knowing someone is giving you the bare minimum and still deciding to see it through rose-coloured glasses. It is for anyone who has ever romanticised a situationship, confused inconsistency for mystery, or convinced themselves that “something” is better than nothing.

The band have also announced that they will be playing a single launch show at The Lord Gladstone (Sydney) on Oct 9 to celebrate the release. 

Heterochromia are known for turning life’s chaos into glitter-drenched anthems built to dance, vent, and laugh through the wreckage of your poor life choices. Drawing inspiration from ABBA, MUNA, The 1975 and Sabrina Carpenter, they fuse Disco optimism with sharp, modern Pop, pairing emotional honesty with candied sarcasm and a tasteful amount of self-awareness.

Entering their ‘Heart Eyes Club’ era the band lean fully into the “lover-girl” chaos, transforming vulnerability, messy friendships and situationships into cathartic Pop songs you can scream along to. Their sound is nostalgic yet strikingly current: big hooks, pulsing rhythms and glitter as armour, inviting you to spin your bad decisions into lore and find joy in the aftermath.

Naarm/Melbourne based Metalcore outfit Vault Hill have just unleashed their incredibly powerful new single and video called ‘The Pain We Keep Alive’, which premiered exclusively via HEAVY Mag. 

The single is taken from their forthcoming seven-track EP, due for release in September. Inspired by vocalist Morgan’s experiences living and working in the Northern Territory, the release reflects on the ongoing inequality faced by First Nations communities while paying tribute to the region’s unique beauty and harsh landscape.

“The Pain We Keep Alive  is about an uncomfortable truth, the more we look away, the more we distance ourselves from the problems people face here in the Northern Territory and remote Australia, the longer we give life to the pain these problems bring. The lyrics contain the description of the story of oppression and how modern Australia has addressed it. The Bridging the Gap Royal Commission’s findings and evidence that these problems have not gone away, in many cases have become worse and yet the perception in the media, for the sake of tourism or to globally save face as a nation, is that equality not only exists but is celebrated.” 

Vault Hill combine modern Metalcore with the groove, aggression and intensity of bands such as Lamb Of God, Slipknot, Killswitch Engage and Everytime I Die. Known for their crushing riffs, relentless live shows and socially conscious songwriting, the band continue to establish themselves as one of Melbourne’s emerging heavy acts.

Canberra based Country Pop artist Leila has just released her latest single called ‘Bloodstream’.

“I wrote this track last year and it’s probably one of my rawest most favourite songs I’ve written. Bloodstream is a song I wrote about protecting your own heart, even it that means putting someone at a distance. Can’t wait to sing this one on tour, it’s going to be special.”

The single is taken from her forthcoming EP release called ‘Heart And Soul’, which comes out later this year on October 23. Leila has also announced the ‘Heart And Soul’ tour, which spans across the East Coast of Australia, commencing on October 24th. The tour will be her most ambitious outing to date, bringing her mesmerizing live show to venues across Australia, showcasing her newest EP to fans new and old. She will be performing alongside her band, as well as in solo and duo formats.

Leila has had a huge 2026 so far. She kicked things off in May with the release of her stunning single ‘Different Way Home’, which premiered exclusively via ABC Country and received positive reviews from Triple J staff.

She then followed up with the ‘Heart And Soul’ single, which premiered exclusively via The AU Review and secured repeat airplay on ABC Country (Grassroots).

Canberra based songsmith Jack Biilmann has just released his latest single called ‘(Not) Easy To Love’, which premiered exclusively via The AU Review.

“This song just came from a riff I had stockpiled and total appreciation for my wife Jodi. Since we got together eleven years ago, I have been counting my lucky stars for having her in my life. As the song suggests, at times I am not the easiest person to be with & mixing an artistic career into a relationship is never easy. She does it with ease, she understands me, and I am proud to have this song on the album to celebrate her.”

The new single is the final track from his forthcoming album called ‘Move The Mountains’ that is set for release on September 25. He has also announced a huge run of tour dates to celebrate the album release, that kicks off on September 30 and runs all the way through to 2027. 

Jack Biilmann kicked off 2026 with the release of his single Outlaw, which quickly secured airplay on Double J (Tower Of Song) and ABC Country (Saturday Night Country). He then followed up with the release of his single Forbidden Fruit. The single was premiered via Double J (Tower Of Song) and The AU Review, and has since been aired on well over 50 radio stations nation-wide. June saw the release of single Never Have It All, which premiered via ABC Country and The AU Review. The single went on to gain further rotation on ABC Country (Saturday Night Country and Edge Of Country) and secured airplay on hundreds of stations worldwide. 

Most recently, Jack Biilmann dropped his introspective single called ‘Dark Days’, which quickly dominated the AMRAP Chartsacross the board, reaching #3 on the National Charts, #2 on the Regional Charts and #2 on the Country/Blues/Roots Charts.

Toronto indie quintet Next Week’s Washing share “Where Did I Go Wrong,” an exhilarating new single that pairs soaring shoegaze textures with driving alternative rock. Serving as the latest preview of the band’s forthcoming second EP, the track captures the uncertainty of growing up in a rapidly changing world, exploring the self-doubt, anxiety, and search for identity that define a generation growing up in unprecedented times.

“It’s about trying to find yourself and becoming the person you want to be at a strange time in the world,” explains singer Miles Duffy. “There’s a level of anxiety and self-doubt that comes with being young nowadays, and we felt like it’s an important thing to write about because we’re all experiencing this culture firsthand.”

New Zealand based Heavy outfit Haast Hunterhave just unleashed their highly anticipated debut album ‘Plastique’, which premiered exclusively via 
The AU Review. The album release also features a brand new music video for their track ‘Chrysalis’, directed by Colin Jeffs of Ten of Swords.

Blending visceral riffs, cinematic production, and emotionally charged storytelling, the album marks a defining moment for the ferocious quartet, with the introduction of a new vocalist Sinaea Elizabeth alongside founding member James Harper (vocals/guitar), Chris Gudsell (bass) and Mitch Walker (drums).

Examining identity in an age of performance and pretense, PLASTIQUE considers the psychological cost of modern life, and the search for meaning after personal and societal collapse. Themes of mental health, addiction, transformation, grief, and hope are woven through towering riffs, ambient electronics, soaring melodies, and crushing breakdowns.
