Felicity Urquhart is a fantastc country singer songwriter from Australia.

She has a won a Golden Guitar(that a country music award) for best video clip .

She is going places by doing the hard yards to repeat the rewards

1. How did you get into music?

Busking on Peel st Tamworth ( my home town) when I was 11 yrs old

2. Who were your idols growing up?

John Williamson, Dolly Parton, Slim Dusty,Patsy Cline, Willie Nelson

3. Who were your influences?

they were Alison Krauss & Union Station, Dolly, Patsy ,Bob Wills

4. Are you happy with the responses from the new album?

most definitely

5. What have responses been like to your music on the web?

it’s been so interesting getting interest from other countries, the power and reach of the net is incredible

6. Has the Internet helped with your music?

I’m sure it has

7. Do you think tools like MySpace are useful?

Absolutely

8. Who you would most like to tour with?

Alison Krauss

9. If you could work with any one who would it be?

Alison Krauss

10. Is it hard to get radio to play your music?

yes it is, they hear the word country and freak out

11. Have you had much response from radio?

it’s been positive in country circles but I wish mainstream would give us some airtime

12. Do you think Australia needs a dedicated country radio station nation wide?

there are national country programmers but a 24hr day station Nation wide would be fabulous…I don’t see it happening though

13. What’s it like being a country singer/songwriter in Australia ?

Interesting…I try to write honestly, that’s always my priority

14. Has having a major independent distributor helped with getting your music out there?

for sure .it’s the hardest part of the selling is getting in front of people so I really love the indie distributors

15. What is on your stereo at the moment?

The Wreckers

16. What are some of your favorite musical artists/bands?

James Taylor, Mindy Smith, Bonnie Raitt , Alison Krauss, Shawn Colvin, Emmy Lou Harris, Dolly, Josh Rouse, Karl Broadie, James Blundell, The Flood, Sheryl Crowe

17. Any plans to tour the country?

Touring this yr with Sara Storer and then James Blundell and Anne Kirkpatrick

18 Who have you has helped you out the most?

My family have helped me out the most, particularly my sister

19. What inspires you when writing music?

I’m inspired by the emotive stuff, it’s usually something personal

20. How did the recording process go for the new album?

I had a long list of demos first and then from that made a short list and band tracked in the studio about 18 songs. We then decided from there what songs sounded best. I rely on my partner / producer Glen Hannah for his musical advice during that stage
