CUB SCOUTS ANNOUNCE MANAGEMENT DEAL

CUB SCOUTS ANNOUNCE MANAGEMENT DEAL

Brisbane’s Cub Scouts are pleased to announce a deal with two of Australia’s most respected managers. The band will be represented by Spark and Opus’ Briese Abbott and London-based, former Boy and Bear manager Rowan Brand.

2013 has already been a whirlwind journey for the band with their hit “Told You So” becoming one of the most played alternative radio hits of the summer and hitting #16 in the US CMJ college radio charts. They were recently announced on the bill of the sold-out Splendour in the Grass festival and are currently in Majorca, Spain where they are filming a clip for an upcoming single.

The band are playing a number of dates internationally this month including Liverpool Sound City (Liverpool, UK), The Great Escape (Brighton, UK), Music Matters (Singapore) as well as their first headline dates in London and Ho Chi Minh City. The band will return to Australia in June to release the follow up to their latest single (and Channel V Ripe Clip of the Week), “Pool!”

“We are so excited to welcome Briese and Rowan to the team,” said Cub Scouts vocalist Tim Nelson. “It’s a really great time for the band right now and to know we have the benefit of not one great manager, but two making sure we stay on track is such a great thing.”

Briese Abbott has spent time as a manager working with One Louder on artists such as The Drones, Sarah Blasko and Kate Miller-Heidke. She is currently Vice Chairperson of the Association of Artist Managers (AAM) and was voted in the “top 30 under 30” music industry professionals in Australia (The Music Network). She currently steers the careers of artists including PVT and Elizabeth Rose.

Rowan Brand’s career has taken him around the world with various positions including a director of New York’s CMJ Music Marathon and a founding councillor of the Australian Youth Music Council. He steered Boy and Bear through their platinum, ARIA award-winning debut album and now primarily resides in London where he manages English trio Bear’s Den as well as Sydney’s Tigertown.

“I have been watching Cub Scouts for well over a year now and was immediately drawn to their amazing ability with songs,” said Brand. “I immediately knew that Briese and I would make a great team to not only capitalise on their success at home, but also the growing buzz overseas and I’m so excited about what we can all achieve together.”
