Warning Birds – Battle Plans EP Review

Warning Birds – Battle Plans EP (MGM Distribution)

Now this is a cool EP.  I really dug it, good songs and good production.  It starts off a great instrumental tune with the faint hint of vocals in the background near the end of the song.  The use of piano is excellent, this songs shows off the bands songwriting.  There are two singers in the band Sam and Carmen and both work well with the music.  The band plays indie pop track Dark Places shows this off, it’s a catchy tune that has good vocals, musicianship and just grabs you in.  I’ll Tell The Water Of You is another great tune, has a dark edge to it.  Carmen lovely female vocals are just perfect for the track.  The use of strings is a nice touch to the song.  Battle Plans is a great track, catchy well written and could a hit.  It’s a song that screams radio play.  It’s more upbeat but still has dark undertones to it.  Sally is my pick off the album, it’s another catchy tune, well written and performed.  The use of backing vocals works well with the tune.  Ghost Town is a great way to finish off the EP, the use of strings at the start of the track are an excellent choice, it is a big bold song as well as being catchy, it’s well performed and sung.  This is a first class EP for an Aussie band who go so far.  If they keep writing songs like this, they are the path to a successful career.  Have a listen and discover why they will be your new favorite band.
