Following on from the release of her widely praised new single ‘Darts in the Dark’, pop-country sensation Rachael Fahim has just revealed the accompanying music video – directed by Ben Develin and Benjamin Ling of Mude Media (Milan Ring, Taka Perry, A.GIRL).
Filmed in a container yard in Sydney’s St Peters, the performance clip is a rousing visual feast, capturing stunning late afternoon light and natural lens flares. Rachael comments on the inspiration, “we went into this video just wanting to create something fun that gave a sense of the energy you would get from one of my live shows. After being away from the stage for two years, I’ve spent a lot of time with my band working on building a live show that was festival ready and hoping that audiences will connect with that.”
Rachael co-wrote ‘Darts in the Dark’ during the 2021‘Country Meets Pop’ song camp with producer Robby De Sa, Ned Philpott and US writer Rosi Golan (Little Big Town, Billy Currington, Christina Aguilera).
“When we wrote this song, I was talking about how I often feel stuck while everyone around me seems to be moving forward, life can be a rollercoaster, but you just have to sit back, enjoy the ride and just focus on your own path,” says Fahim. “Rosi had this amazing title, and the song just flowed; we literally had a finished production six hours later!”
‘Darks in the Dark’ is the follow-up to her biggest hit ever on country radio, ‘Middle Ground’, which spent a massive five weeks at #1 on the official Australian Country singles airplay chart earlier this year. Fahim is the second-highest streamed female country artist in Australian history (after Kasey Chambers) and has over 11 million audio streams since the release of her ‘Iconic’ EP.
The 2017 Star Maker winner has also previously been globally promoted as a ‘Countrywide’ feature artist on Apple Music and an ‘Artist to Watch’ on Spotify.
