Waterloo-based alternative artist FRANKIE FLOWERS returns with her haunting new single, “HEX.” Fusing dark-wave, alternative, and synth-pop influences, “HEX” explores the emotional push-and-pull of limerence—the intoxicating yet uncertain space between love and longing.

With gritty industrial textures, distorted synths, and FRANKIE FLOWERS‘ mesmerizing vocals, “HEX” is an exhilarating dive into emotional turbulence and sonic unpredictability.

Melbourne based singer/songwriter Harley Luscombe has released his endearing new single ‘Lose My Soul’, which premiered exclusively via The AU Review

“Lose My Soul was written as a very introspective song, one that emphasises the importance of following your intuition, being observant in everyday life and rolling with the punches. The idea of not wanting to lose my soul refers to my promise to never compromise on not only my beliefs, but my passion, that is the continued pursuit of music.”

Known for his soulful voice and raw, emotive songwriting, Harley weaves elements of indie, soul, and alternative into his music—drawing inspiration from the likes of Matt Corby and Childish Gambino, with frequent comparisons to the vocal stylings of Jeff Buckley.

Harley Luscombe debuted in 2023 with the release of his single ‘2AM’. He then followed up in 2024 with the release of his Summer anthem called ‘Bitter Love’, which premiered exclusively via AAA Backstage and received coverage form the likes of
Australian Music SceneGood Call LiveAMNplify and many more.

The single went on to gain airplay on well over 100 radio stations worldwide. Earlier this year, Harley graced the stage at Mordi Fest alongside Alex LaheyKilling Heidi, Katy Steele and many more.

Harley is back again and ready to win over hearts and minds with his new single ‘Lose My Soul’, available on all major online stores and streaming services.

With his new single, “Hurt A Bird,” St. Catharines-based artist Joe Lapinski delivers a fierce and poignant anthem against intolerance. Rooted in New Wave Rock with a touch of punk spirit, the track channels Lapinski’s anger toward the adult bullying of transgender and non-binary youth. Lapinski offers a solution: through love and kindness, you too can truly be free as a bird.

Co-produced with Dave Clark (RheostaticsGord Downie’s Country of Miracles), the song’s tight, punchy arrangement emerged through a collaborative effort to refine Lapinski’s initial, lengthier version. Inspired by late ’70s and early ‘80s New Wave icons, “Hurt A Bird” features Elvis Costello-style synths and XTC-inspired basslines, creating a track that is both catchy and emotionally charged.

Raised in Saskatchewan and now residing on the archipelago of Haida Gwaii, British Columbia, The Bapti$$—the new musical project from multi-instrumentalist Joseph LaPlante—presents “Mister 808,” a raw and captivating track that blends the lush, soulful tones of acoustic guitars with the driving force of the iconic 808 bass drum. This new single is an ode to simplicity and the beauty of God’s creation, capturing a sound that is as confident and peaceful as it is ambitious.

The Bapti$$, a project born from LaPlante‘s mid-career rebirth, marks a turning point in his artistic journey, and “Mister 808” encapsulates the essence of his growth. The song’s narrative comes from LaPlante’s longstanding love for the 808 bass drum and his reverence for both family and faith. It’s a sonic reflection of the artist’s world, melding the powerful foundation of the 808 with the introspective beauty of acoustic music.

In over three decades of making music—on the road and from his beloved Fang Recording Studio in Nova Scotia—Joel Plaskett has made a lot of friends. To mark his 50th birthday on April 18th, a cherished group of those pals came together—under cover of night and without Plaskett’s knowledge—to create Songs From The Gang, a surprise double album of heartfelt covers pulled from across his catalogue.

5x JUNO nominated Toronto roots musician Julian Taylor offers a sparkling and soulful take on Plaskett’s “Compete With Loneliness,” a 2009 bonus track from his triple record Three that explores the theme of being alone.

Taylor’s rendition of the track is both heartfelt and fresh, bringing his own unique style to a song that has long resonated with fans. His smooth vocals and the production’s warm, retro-inspired vibe blend seamlessly, delivering a timeless interpretation that captures both the melancholy and beauty of the original.

After three years of soul-searching and a run of busking across the globe, Melbourne based songsmith Taylor Piggott is back with his new single
Heaven’s Not Ready for You, which premiered exclusively via The AU Review.

The heartfelt new single was written on the day he learned of his Mum’s cancer diagnosis.

“Heaven’s Not Ready for You is the most personal song I’ve ever released, and stepping back into releasing music with this track feels like the start of a new chapter. I’m eager to connect with listeners who crave authentic, heartfelt music and share this journey with those who need it most.”

Taylor Piggott writes songs the way most people write in their journals—honest, raw, unfiltered, and straight from the heart. Music made to consume in the dark, he writes from a place of vulnerability yet understanding, blending Indie/Folk warmth with the kind of lyrics that make you feel like you’ve known him forever.

His journey has taken him from street corners to some of the world’s biggest stages—playing Sofar Sounds London, supporting Tones & I and Conrad Sewell, and earning the last four-chair turn of his season on The Voice Australia, where Keith Urban called him a “one-in-a-million voice.”

New single Heaven’s Not Ready For You is available on all online streaming services.
