Vibi is the alias of Canadian-born pop singer and dynamic vocalist, Valerie Borghesi, who has been making a statement through her intense energy performance, red hot aesthetic, and impressive vocal abilities. Championed by her hometown, Vibi took home awards in the Best Female Vocalist and Adult Contemporary Artist categories at the 2020 Niagara Music Awards.
Her new single, “Nights Like This,” has already had a huge impact. Vibi performed it in front of 60k people when she opened for Bryan Adams, it won in the Pop Category for the John Lennon Songwriting contest, and it got her accepted with a scholarship into the LAAMP (Los Angeles Academy for Artists and Music Production) program.
If you’re looking for the next big Canadian popstar, look no further than Fox Revett. Big voice and even bigger hooks, Fox is elevating traditional pop music with his insights as an LGBT artist in the music industry. He is a swiss-army knife of songwriting, production and artistic prowess. Uranium Waves declares, “You’ll fall under the spell of the tenebrous smile and bold phrase of artist Fox Revett.”
Love songs don’t have to be a slow dance. “Breaking Point” is downright turbo-charged pop euphoria. Fox opted to turn up the guitar amps, cue that vocoder, and embrace the magic that pop music has. Until now, Fox had never penned a love song, mainly because he hadn’t felt secure enough in his relationships. For his boyfriend, he broadcasts this message of love.
Canberra based Metalcore lords A World In Colour have just released their new single and video ‘Break Me’. The new single displays a more melodic hardcore/metalcore crossover, and bringing a fresh sound to an already cramped scene.
“Break Me is essentially a bit of a post breakup song and is really trying to capture and describe the feeling of, “why am I not good enough for this person and what did I do wrong”. We all have those moments in our life when we wonder why we’re not good enough and our thoughts tend to spiral into self-loathing and doubt, despite our best efforts. It was really interesting to lay it all out and release it for all to see in a world where mental health is more paramount than ever.”
A World In Colour are pushing the limits of emotional Metalcore, wanting to connect with listeners on a deeper level than your usual breakdown beats.
A World In Colour blasted onto the scene in late 2021 with their single ‘Descent’ – an attack on the government’s lack of interest in protecting the country and its people during the 2020 bushfire crisis. Which, like Canberra had seen before, was knocking on the door yet again. The track was met with great praise in the metalcore community for its relevant and relatable stance while also proving to be an absolute banger – Becoming a standout addition on the Homegrown And Heavy playlists.
New single ‘Break Me’ is available on all major online stores and streaming services.
Jeen has released her latest full-length album, Tracer, co-produced with Ian Blurton.
She discloses, “Making this record helped me stay above water instead of going to the bottom, or at least make peace somewhere in between.” There is a vulnerable and fragile quality to her vocals: both warmer and less angular. One quickly realizes that Tracer is an immersive and intimate experience. A challenge or even a dare, to sit with and allow oneself to be taken in and even more so taken over.
“Little Idea” is a stripped-down song about wanting something and hoping it wants you back; like the point you give in after burning out on it for so long. Jeen continues, “I think on this album I was trying to convince myself it’ll all be ok, or if it’s not maybe that’s ok too… that quote ‘find what you love and let it kill you’ sums it up pretty good for me.”
Brisbane based outfit ZUKØ have just released their new single ‘Solace’.
The single is taken from their forthcoming debut EP called ‘Hereditary’, which is set for release on November 18th.
ZUKØ was formed in amongst the chaos & commotion during the Covid-19 pandemic when Logan, Jordan & Ben (formerly of Bled Out) linked up with vocalist Jesse and started to write new tracks fusing some of their favourite genres together. After a couple of jams & writing sessions they expanded from a 4 piece to a 5 piece, adding Dave Thomson to the line-up on rhythm guitar.
Since forming, the band have released singles ‘Roe Ct’ and ‘KAMIKAZE’, which was premiered on Triple J. They have shared the stage with the likes of Among The Ruined, Hang ‘Em High, Deadweight80, Grizzlyshark, Nervous Light and We Set Signals. After the release of ‘Roe Ct’, rhythm guitarist Dave has relocated to Canberra (but is still actively involved in the band.) Wanting to keep the sound of a 5 piece, Nato Laenan took over duties on rhythm guitar.
ZUKØ ultimately combine elements of Hardcore, Metalcore and Post Hardcore to create a truly unique and hard-hitting sound.
New single ‘Solace’ is available on all major online stores and streaming services.
Brynn Knickle was born and raised in Nova Scotia, where her love for music and the arts was nurtured early by talented and generous mentors. Rather than narrow in on one category of arts, Brynn explored each thread: dance, piano, guitar, singing, and acting. Eventually, it led her to acting and fight choreography in New York. Throughout all of these adventures, songwriting has been (and continues to be) a comfort to her.
Her first release, “Fool No More,” was initially inspired by an unfortunately unhealthy relationship. After taking a break from the song and coming back to it, however, she realized that it now symbolized the growth and eventual peace that comes with realizing what you need from a partner… and what you don’t. Knickle is an advocate for mental health and finds sharing her stories through music therapeutic and creatively fulfilling.
