Detroit radio formed the soundtrack of Emm Gryner‘s life and career and her brand new record is a celebration of that music. From Motown, jazz and pop, to Steely Dan, Fleetwood Mac and the Doobies, Business & Pleasure (out April 14th) is infused with the sunshine soul and stellar playing of the late 70s and early 80s.

Ahead of the album’s release, Gryner is sharing an elating new single entitled “Jack.” Inspired by Jack Wagner’s 1984 song “All I Need” and his love of golf, it’s a reminder that every passion you have ever had, even the most unlikely, can become the stuff of creativity and joy.

Percussionist, composer, and producer Julian Loida has a thirst to participate in and experience a range of sounds due in part to his synesthesia. Music is a full-body experience for him, with sounds often invoking involuntary sensations of color, texture, or even taste for this Boston jazz/folk/classical musician.

Giverny” is the opening song on Loida’s upcoming sophomore LP. It is the small town outside of Paris where Claude Monet lived, worked, and changed the world through his paintings. The light in this town is soft and warm, where “golden hour” is all day, serene.

Loida visited the town twice in his travels. When this music came to him, the sound and feeling of this piece reminded him of Giverny – the light, the feeling of walking through this artist’s gardens and grounds. As memories are, many times they come to us before we even remember.

Montreal-based LGBTQ indie-rock band Fleece has never paused, even for a moment, to define themselves or add labels to their experience, instead opting to open up and be. The outfit is au naturel and it shows, right from their earliest days and rise to notoriety through their rice cake-munching “How to write an Alt-J song” viral video (which amassed 12 million views). Subsequent releases and antics have added fuel to this fire and grown large and dedicated followings on Spotify, Instagram and TikTok, resulting in worldwide audiences and millions of monthly streams.

While having been focused on the songwriting of lead vocalist Matt Rogers and the relentless energy of drummer and co-founder Ethan SoilFleece has always been about being a band. Fleece‘s previous music had drawn from musicians no longer in the project, but it was the emergence of Megan Ennenberg (guitar/vocals) and Jameson Daniel (guitar) as members that completed the line up and contributed to the cohesive whole, the final resting place, the rebirth of Fleece.

New single, “It’s The Life,” is about faking it till you make it. Playing pretend until life feels good again. Bringing out your inner child.

Eleanor is a singer/ songwriter, her sound is R&B leaning, with accents of soul and indie influence. She takes a narrative approach to songwriting, leaning on experiences of grief and overcoming to shape stories that are robust and deeply felt. Eleanor has recently contributed backup vocals to the published music of Chad Price, Texas King, and Emanuel whose album Alt Therapy were nominated for two JUNO Awards. Her forthcoming debut A Late Bloom EP is set for release this summer.

New single, “Waste My Time,” was inspired by a friendship that was tiptoeing into a relationship. The title encompasses the chorus and the thesis of the song. It’s also connected to the theme that ties this whole body of work together – time is fleeting and passing time was a major preoccupation of Eleanor’s while working on A Late Bloom.

Acclaimed Canadian rock band Silverstein are thrilled to announce Misery Made Me Deluxe, an extended release of their critically acclaimed 2022 album, set for release on April 7th, 2023 via UNFDMisery Made Me Deluxe features new versions of songs from the original record as well as new music, including “Poison Pill.”
