Meggi Faye‘s latest single, “Moon & Back,” is a moving ode to unconditional love. Inspired by her bond with her daughter, Faye crafts an emotional journey through the stages of a child’s life – from infancy to adulthood. With her signature alternative folk sound, Faye‘s heartfelt lyrics and acoustic melodies deliver a universal message of devotion and vulnerability.

Known for her captivating voice and raw storytelling, Faye blends nostalgic and contemporary tones reminiscent of influences like Kathleen Edwards and Jenn Grant. Her ability to write from a place of honesty shines in “Moon & Back,” creating a deeply resonant listening experience.

Moon & Back” highlights the universal struggles and joys of parenthood. Anchored by a stunning violin arrangement and ambient lead guitar, the song’s delicate instrumentation mirrors its poignant lyrics.

Brooklyn-based duo The Dream Eaters deliver a playful yet deeply introspective musical journey with their latest EP, Deathbed Visions, produced and recorded themselves. Since 2015, Elizabeth LeBaron and Jake Zavracky have blended indie pop, dream pop, and new wave sounds into a unique musical identity, and their latest release captures their evolution toward raw honesty.

Inspired by fever dreams Jake experienced during a bout with COVID-19, Deathbed Visions weave together themes of longing, escape, and personal reckoning. The thread starts with the title track, then continues through songs like “Invite Me Over” and “Tiny Grass is Dreaming,” exploring a longing to escape suburbia and achieve something greater.

The focus track, “SPANK BANK,” is a cheeky, upbeat ode to sexual fantasy, highlighting the pair’s knack for humor and authenticity. With hundreds of thousands of social media views, the track resonated with fans long before its release.

4x JUNO nominated singer-songwriter Julian Taylor and his band are sharing a brand new live LP recorded at Toronto’s historic Massey Hall in the TD Music Hall, with all tracks mastered in Dolby Atmos.

“Any time you get a chance to record a live show, you gotta take it, so when Massey Hall offered to record it via their new Deanne Cameron state-of-the-art studio equipped with the best gear that the world has to offer, it was a no brainer,” explains Taylor.

Doug McKendrick recorded, mixed it and mastered it in Dolby Atmos. It’s the first album to receive that treatment and I am excited for the world to hear it.”

This career spanning set sees the Julian Taylor Band playing with a newfound sense of comradery stronger than that on any record in Taylor’s back catalogue.

The album’s focus track is a lively rendition of the warm and nostalgic yet a touch unsettling production which characterizes “The Ridge,” the Americana title track from Taylor’s breakout 2020 record which chronicles his childhood summers spent with his sister, aunt, and grandparents at the latter’s farm in Maple Ridge, British Columbia.

New England singer-songwriter Dan Pallotta is continuing his string of 2024 singles with “End of the Road,” a lonesome, vocal and harmonica-forward exploration of the grace and transcendence that can be found in hitting rock bottom.

“I’m sober myself in a twelve-step program and I remember that fork in the road when I hit bottom—and in recovery, I’ve seen many others arrive at it,” says Pallotta.

“Some choose recovery and some choose death. The bottom is in many ways the foundation of recovery. It’s a critical feature, and I wanted to bring that specific feature to life.”

This eerie yet warm folk song is narrated by the end of the road itself. “He’s seen this all before, a hundred million times with a hundred million addicts,” Pallotta explains.

“He’s impartial, matter-of-fact—just welcoming the addict to his new reality. He passes no judgment. He offers an opportunity to transcend.”

Fraser Teeple’s latest single, “Spark,” is a blue-collar love song that captures the gap between dreams and reality. Written while balancing his work as a tree climber and musician in the east end of town, Teeple reflects on the desperate struggles of keeping dreams alive. His poignant storytelling resonates with anyone who has ever longed for something greater, blending soulful vulnerability with hope.

Rooted in acoustic folk traditions and lifted by shimmering vintage synths, “Spark” bridges the gritty and ethereal. Recorded at Slow Magic with producer Matthew Johnston, the song features soulful backing vocals by Fiker Kirubel and contributions from folk group The Pairs, creating a soundscape that evokes both city lights and northern campfires.

ELLDER, the collaborative project of singer-songwriters Carmen Elle and Ben Kunder, debuts with their powerful single “Don’t Carry Things That Weigh You Down.” A raw and evocative exploration of healing, growth, and transformation, the song is a poignant reflection of the duo’s unique ability to translate personal experiences into universal emotions.

Born from a period of deep introspection, “Don’t Carry Things That Weigh You Down” captures the process of letting go and finding hope. The song began with Ben’s quiet moments at the piano, coping with the trauma of nearly losing a loved one and revisiting the weight of past relationships.

That first verse was my way of coping for months. It wasn’t until my first songwriting session with Carmen that the song truly came to life. They immediately connected with the sentiment, and together we finished it in minutes. This song reflects our shared journey of healing and our deep connection as collaborators.Ben Kunder
