Interview With Missy Tarrington By Chris 6/4/09
Missy Tarrington studies Communications and yes does Modelling so read on, she gave some good answers
1. Why did you decide to become a model?
1. Modeling was something I’d always wanted to do since I was a little girl, I remember flipping through YM and Seventeen Magazine and always wanting to look just like those girls when I grew up! I asked my mom when I was younger if I could model and she said when I turned 18 I could do whatever I wanted, and once I was in college I decided to pursue it.
2. What has opened doors for your modelling career?
2. Doors have started to open up to me much more now in my career since I posed for Playboy’s October 2008 issue of the Girls of the Big Ten
3. Have you learn’t a lot from the experience?
3. Throughout my modeling career I’ve really learned to be happy with myself and how I look no matter what happens. As a model I have to be strong enough to face rejections and still hold my head high and know that I am still beautiful inside and out and if others dont see that or appreciate it, then I’ll just find someone who will. So in that sense I’ve really had to learn how to be strong willed and believe in myself.
4. Has your website helped you get modelling job?
4. My website has manily been a good source for fans to go on and read my bio and learn a little bit more about the real me and see some of my modeling pictures throughout my career as well as find what my latest appearance is, etc. I have definitely gotten some career opportunities from my website as well which is always great!
5. Do you think it is a good tool?
5. I think that having my own website is a great tool for me because it gets hard to know who to trust through facebook and myspace, so typically people who email me from my website are sending me serious inquiries whether they want a signed picture or they want to offer me a job of somekind, then I can look those people up easier from there. It has been great for me to have.
6. Who would you most like to work with?
6. I would love to work with Victoria’s Secret Catalogue and be one of their “Angels”
7. Which models do you look up to?
7. I definitely look up to the Aussie model Miranda Kerr I think she is so adorable and she kind of has the innocent girl next door look that I think I possess as well, which is probably why I pay more attention to her. Other models I really like are Alexandria Ambrosio, Gisele Bundchen and Marissa Miller
8. Have you had any bad feedback?
8. Overall everyone important to me has been extremely supportive of me posing for Playboy, there will always be those people who find it necessary to email me with their opinion on the matter and everyone is entitled to think whatever they want, but the only people who really ever effect me are those closest to me so that’s all the really matters.
9. Which Magazine would you most like to be on the cover for?
9. Sports Illustrated Swim Suit Edition and Playboy Magazine of course 🙂
10. What kinda shoot would most not do?
10. I wouldn’t do anything that would represent me in a negative light or make me look trashy in anyway
11. If you could be in a music video who’s would it be?
11. When I was younger I always wanted to be in an Aerosmith video, but now i guess I’d probably want to be in a Justin Timberlake music video because he always has such hott music videos with such good looking women
12. Who has helped you out the most?
12. My family, friends and boyfriend have helped me out the most in my career. I turn to them with everything I do and get their opinion and advice and without them I would be nowhere! In the beginning of my career I worked with a photographer named Eugene Nichols and he is the one who first helped me get experience and my foot in the door, he gave me great opportunities and worked with me to get me to where I am today as well.
13. Do you think the Internet has helped you get Jobs?
13. I wouldn’t say that the internet has helped me get specific jobs, but it has really helped me get some recognition and my name out there!
14. What is on your stereo at the moment?
14. My car stereo right now is playing Taylor Swift, Rihanna, Britney Spears, Ashlee Simpson, Nirvana, Miley Cyrus 🙂 , Justin Timberlake and The Fray
15. What are some of your favourite musicial artists/bands?
15. I love love love Britney Spears, Rihanna and Taylor Swift, I also really love fun club songs that my friends and I can dance to
16. Do you think MySpace has helped with getting modeling jobs?
16. No myspace definitely not, I dont even go on myspace really i think its kinda creepy, all i get is an overload of messages and wierd comments and I dont know more than 5 people on myspace so i dont really go on too often. I really love Facebook and I go on there daily, however I dont think its helped me ever get work but it has been a good way to get my name out there and what I do.
17. What have you learned from studying communications?
17. My major, Communication Studies, has helped me learn a wide variety of things in media studies, broadcasting, marketing, public realations, etc. I feel as though it has prepared me for a variety of career paths which is great because I enjoy and am good at so many things that I have a hard time narrowing down exactly what I want to do for the rest of my life.
18. How will that help with the modeling?
18. Well Communications Studies doesn’t necessarily help with my modeling career, however I communicate with all kinds of people on a daily basis and being good at it I believe has gotten me to where I am because people think that there is more to me than just a pretty face and so in that sense I guess I could say studdying Communications in college has prepared me for most career situations including modeling.
19. What do you hope that will do for you?
19. Getting an education was very important to me and I feel as though it will help me in any route I choose to take in the job market.
20. What is next for yourself?
20. I was just recently reprinted in Playboys Jan/Feb 2009 Special Editions Magazine for Girls of the Big Ten, I had a two page spread and was pictured on their back cover. I was Playboys online Cyber Club Co-Ed of the Week for Feb 26th and happend to win their Co-Ed of the Month for April 2009. I am headed to Chicago this week to shoot for an aditional pictorial for their Cyber Club, they are doing a specific coverage on me for being their Co-Ed of the Month for April 2009 so I’m very excited about that and interested to see where that will go. I am currently seeking a career in Event/Wedding Planning and Broadcasting for Sports Entertainment Televison or possibly Radio. I am just trying to get as much experience as I can and continue to model while I can and I am not sure what the future holds for me but I know it will be doing something fun and that I love!
