MARDI WILSON RETURNS WITH BEAUTIFUL SURF FOLK SONG “ASTRONAUT”

Brisbane based singer songwriter, Mardi Wilson returns to 2019 with her unique surf folk style and soulful lyrics, with a raw and authentic new single “Astronaut” that delves into her insecurities and thrives to simply accept them.

Despite not being able to read music, Mardi lays down the guitar and drums herself on this new single, creating sounds with a variety of emotions.  Recorded at Blind Boy Studioswith producer Brad Hosking, everything you hear on the single is a mix up of the two, as Brad jumps in for a guitar solo and a hint of keys.

This song was inspired by Mardi feeling like bit of an alien when it comes to relationships, she explains “This song is really for anyone who feels like a bit of an alien. What I want them to take away is to keep doing you and find your fellow aliens.” Reflecting on the lyrics, Mardi recruited artist Holly Neilsen from Paper Hands; and explains the artwork “The theme of this artwork is outer space and it tells a little bit of the story of the song. You can see a girl sitting on another planet looking down at earth – to me the art relates most to the line “to you and all your carefree friends, do I seem like the alien?.”

“Astronaut” is a new beginning for Mardi, sonically beautiful and lyrically touching. Find Mardi spending alot of her time sharing music up and down the coast line between Brisbane and NSW, connecting with musicans and song writing often. Stay tuned for upcoming shows.
