Interview With Brendon Booth from Limestone By Chris

Limestone are a great victorian rock band.
Their music is good old modern rock music which doesn’t
suck.
Their music is good as and so is the ep.
These guys are going places.

1. How did Limestone form?

Usually Limestone forms in dank caves, but we formed about
five years ago in a house in Cragieburn, as a three piece.
Salv and Wayne wanted to start an acoustic band and it grew
from there into the happy family we are today.

2. Who were your idols growing up?

I really liked the main character in Greatest American
Hero, the Samurai Pizza Cats, and Bob Hawke.

3. Who were your influences?

The Beatles (of course), Van Morrison, Don McClean, Cat
Stevens, Joni Mitchell, My Friend the Chocolate Cake,
Counting Crows.

4. What has the response been to ep?

Fantastic so far, with positive feedback from print and
radio media, airplay on radio stations in four states, and
that’s all before it’s been officially launched!

5. What is it like playing live and what’s your fav
venue?

It’s like running, flying, falling, crying, shaking all
over, and eating chocolate all at once! Our favourite venue
is the Duke, where live rock clings to its very
foundations.

6. Has the Internet helped with your music?

Our website has had thousands of clicks over the last year
and a half and having some of our songs on MP3 definitely
helps people listen to a little slice of limestone.

7. What are your thoughts to filesharing and the MP3
format?

I think the Mp3 format is great for sharing music (despite
the loss in quality from CD) but I don’t like the idea of
my stuff being shared on the internet! Double standards?
Probably.

8. Have you had much response from labels?

We asked stussy and industrie if we could be male models
for them, but they said that we should maybe go for some
cheaper labels. We’ve only just released our debut EP so we
expect to do some solid work in Melbourne and interstate
before we allow ourselves to think about that.

9. If you could work with any one who would it
be?

Jesus. I mean the guy can do anything, you know? You want a
house? BANG! There it is. Run out of wine? Just ask my homy
Jesus, he’ll fill your sink full of the shit.

10. How did the recording process for the ep
go?

It was a major paradigm shift for the band. We had to
really start thinking about the song as a product, about
arrangements, which songs were suitable for recording,
etc… it took us about a year from concept to completion,
but I’m glad we took the time we did, because we came up
with a product we’re extremely happy with.

11. What is it like being a indepedent artist in
Australia?

Awesome- particularly in Melbourne, the Seattle of
Oz.

12. What are your thoughts on realty tv talent shows eg
Australian Idol?

I think it’s like thinning out the gene pool.

13. If you could have a dream gig line up who would they
be?

U2, Counting Crows The Beatles Limestone

14. Have you had much support from radio?

Heaps of positive stuff so far, even though we’re only
three weeks into the promotion of our EP

15. If you could be on The Simpsons or Spongebob
Squarepants where would you be?

I’d be in Springfield – we’d open up the first nudy bar,
right next to Moe’s.

16. What is on your stereo at the moment?

A picture of my dog, lint, and a silver doily. Seriously,
I’m playing Van Morrison’s Greatest Hits.

17. What are some of your favourite musicial
artists/bands?

I really like what Jessica Simpson’s doing at the moment. I
don’t really listen to her music, but the fact that she can
sing and breathe at the same time, I really respect that.
Seriously – Matchbox 20, Counting Crows, U2, Audioslave,
etc.

18. What movies you have seen lately you have really
enjoyed?

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. It is the greatest
movie of all time. Watch it.

19 What are your favourite movies?

As above, plus American Beauty.

20. Realty TV? Good Or Bad?

Very, Very bad.

21. Beer Of Choice?

Asahi, Japanese beer. Super-dry!

Thanks for your time any last words

Hope you enjoy the EP!
