Australia’s Kim Churchill is heading on a road trip across the US this March as the special guest of
Billy Bragg who is launching his first new studio album in five years.
Kim’s own album “Detail of Distance” was released last yearvia Indica Records to critical acclaim both here and overseas. He will play some festival shows as well as headliners in Melbourne and Perth before heading off to the states (with a quick trip back for Bluesfest).
Kim Churchill is acknowledged for his guitar talents with a unique technique and explosive style shaped by intricate fingerpicking, percussive beats on the body of the guitar, and two-handed tapping intertwined with a 24 inch Kick drum, cascading harmonica melodies, and soulful voice.
Kim’s musical journey began in 2009 busking and traveling Australia in a campervan to share his music with friends and strangers alike. Since then, he has won the National Youth Folk Artist of the Year award in 2009, and has played the main stage at Bluesfest each year since before artists like Bob Dylan, Michael Franti and Ben Harper. 2012 saw Kim touring relentlessly worldwide, playing over 300 and 2013 is not slowing down for one of the brightest Australian talents to hit the US.
