1. Did you ever think you would be in PB and how successful you have become of it?
**Growing up I never imagined that I’d pose for Playboy. I didn’t even know it was a possibility until one of my friends mentioned the casting calls. I figured “hey why not try out for shits & giggles, I’ve always wanted to break into the world of modeling.” And here I am! I have been pretty successful in the PB world, since within the year I’ve had 4 magazines, Top 100 of 2007, Coed of the Week, and now I’m one of the top
50 candidates for Model of the Year 2008. Vote for me!
2. What has been the highlight of being PB so far?
**The highlight of being PB model so far as definitely the exposure. We have so many networking opportunities, and fun social opportunities that any 21 year old would kill for!
3. Has that opened doors for your modeling career?
** PB has certainly opened doors as far as other modeling opportunities are concerned. Having the “Playboy Model” title on my name can give me a great advantage in some situations.
4. Do you have plans to do more with them or is the case of get the fans to request more of you?
**I just did a new photo shoot with fellow SE Model Anna Lynn for PB “Girls with Girls” and “Lingerie” so within the next year I will have at least 2 more magazines coming out. It will always be the case of having fans request more of me, though, because PB is constantly tailoring their publications to the wants of the fans. Tell Hef you want more Jess!
5. Have you had any bad feedback rude comments so far?
**The only negativity I have experienced from my first few editorials was just people critiquing the direction in the photos. Many thought that the pictures didn’t do me justice.
6. The latest Lingerie issue you were in how did that shoot come about?
**The latest Lingerie shoot was done on a frame of broken glass. (Don’t worry, it was safe!) The photographer had this really awesome idea of a badass woman landing down and smashing the glass. The positions were somewhat tricky sometimes to keep my body on the breaking points, but it was super fun regardless.
7. How did the first Lingerie and coed of the week shoot come about?
**The first Lingerie shoot was my debut editorial. The flew me out to Miami and we shot in an airplane hanger in Ft. Lauderdale. It was the middle of July and scorching hot! We borrowed this man’s antique pink and white bi-plane, and shot all around and in it. It wasn’t until the Coed of the Week pictures were released that I saw more from that shoot.
7. Has your site helped you get modeling job?
**Currently my website (www.jessicaerinsylvia.com) is under construction and in a very basic version. I have received most jobs and exposure so far through www.onemodelplace.com/jesylvia, my online portfolio/resume. Hopefully soon my personal fansite will be the main place that people go for everything Jessica.
8. Do you think it is a good tool?
** I believe that websites are an excellent tool to market yourself and to get work. The internet is bigger and better than ever these days, and it will only become more and more essential to have a personal website in the future.
9. Were you surprised when you got invited to the Mansion how did that feel?
**My first invite to the mansion came during a phone-in interview on Playboy radio. We were all making jokes about “what happens at the mansion stays at the mansion” and I mentioned how I had never been before. Andrea Lowell instantly responded with “Come with me and I’ll show you the ropes!” At the end of the interview we made arrangements for me to party at the mansion for the 4th of July. Now, just a few days ago I received an actual paper invite to the Midsummer Night’s Dream Party and I was totally psyched! I mean, how many people can actually say they are on that mailing list?! Haha
9. What is the Playboy Mansion like?
**Beautiful! It’s just like you see on TV, but even prettier in person. The landscape is really neat with the pool/grotto area, and the trees are different in LA than New England. Ha yes I went to the mansion in took notice of the trees in particular! I notice weird things. My most favorite part was of course the mini zoo. I got to feed the cutest little monkeys and it was amazing. 🙂
10. Is the Grotto as notorious as they say it is?
**Ah ha I knew you’d have to ask! Well, the grotto is as notorious as they/you make it. I will say that it does have plenty of opportunity for fun naughty times!
11. Did you have many people hit on you?
**I had some interesting people hit on me. I’m sure all of us ladies did. Without mentioning names, this one guy took an interest in me (but they all want the same thing, right?!) and before meeting him, I would have never in my life thought I would even give him the time of day. Nothing against him, of course, but I was never a “fan” and he wasn’t my type. Turned out that he had a super fun, cool personality; so you never know who’s going to be hitting on you at the mansion!
12. Have you meet the man know as Hef yet?
** Truthfully, I haven’t yet met Hef! He was bombarded with people and cameras at the party on the 4th, but I will go up and introduce myself at Midsummers. It’s only right to properly thank him for the invite!
13. Are you surprised how many fans you have gotten yet because of the PB issues you have been in?
**I am surprised! It feels really nice to have people admire your work and to have fans. I am so appreciative of all the love and support that people give. It inspires me to try harder and really make a name for myself. Thanks everyone!
14. Why did you study Marketing and why are you changing to Biotechnology?
**Marketing was something I studied because I am a very sociable person, and figured I could enter pharmaceutical sales or something of the sort. When I realized that everyone and their mother wants to enter that field, and that I had more potential, I learned about Biotechnology. Biotech is in demand, and is so up-and-coming that it has so much opportunity for me. I want to make a difference in the world and with Biotech I can really help people some day.
15. What techniques do you use when study for exams?
** I have terrible studying techniques! I’m not a note card kind of girl at all. I usually just keep reading the material over and over and sometimes have someone quiz me.
16. How do you manage your time doing PB and College work?
**PB isn’t extremely time-consuming, which can be good and bad. Sometimes I would like to be busier with the company, but school is important. I fly out when I need to, and make sure that I have classwork taken care of before I take on any jobs.
17. Have you become a celebrity around campus?
**I haven’t! I am pretty quiet on campus. I sit close to the front of the classroom and don’t really chit-chat unless it’s part of class discussion. I just like to go in, get my work done, and go home! A couple of guys discovered my “secret identity” through MySpace and were amazed. They said they knew I was hot but they had no idea!
18. Which Magazine would you most like to be on the cover for?
**At the moment, I would like to be on the cover of Cosmopolitan. I never read magazines, but Cosmo is very well-rounded and informative, yet fun women’s mag. Spread the word 🙂
19. What kinda shoot would most not do?
**I would never do a true porn shoot. Playboy is as far into the adult community as I will venture. Hard pornographic pictures/videos do NOT interest me.
20. What do you to keep yourself fit?
**Well I used to go to the gym often about 2 years ago, but then stopped all together. Up until a few months ago, I did nothing but snowboard and the occasional rock climbing sesh! I now go to the gym a couple of times…a month. Ha I’m so lazy! I guess it’s all just great genetics.
21. What do you like about Snowboarding?
**How about what DON’T I like about it?! I love it! The freedom, the release, the bond with nature, the fresh air, the challenge, I can go on and on. Unfortunately this past season I was really busy, and we had a terrible season so I only went up a couple of times. Cross your fingers for more snow this year.
22. Where are your favorite places to Snowboard?
**I now purchase the “All East” season pass each year. It allows you unlimited visits at Sunday River, Killington, and 4 others– but Sunday River is the best! (With Killington pulling a close second). I have a sweet purple/pink paisley Burton board. Stop me on the slopes to say hi if you see me!
23. What is on your stereo at the moment?
**If I turned my car on, then I believe a mixed cd that my little sister, Molly, made me would be playing. I think we would hear “‘Like This” by Kelly Rowland at the moment.
24. What are some of your favorite musical artists/bands?
**Well the past couple of weeks I have been playing a few cds straight through without disliking one song from any of them! Back to back I’ve been listening to the new releases from Timbaland, Fall Out Boy, and Amy Winehouse. I can’t live without ’em!
25. What movies you have seen lately you have really enjoyed?
**I saw Oceans 13 and 1408 most recently. I am a huge Oceans fan so of course that was good, and I like the twist in 1408..creepy.
26.What are your favorite movies?
**The Breakfast Club! Empire Records, Girl Interrupted, Run Ronnie Run, Taking Lives, Alice in Wonderland, and a few more.
27. What is next for you?
**I’ll be in the studio for the PB Radio Morning Show Interview August
3rd, Midsummer’s Party August 4th, and then spending the remainder of the summer working/relaxing in LA before starting my Biotech program September 4th. Stay tuned!
