“Falling” is a prelude to what’s to come.
I wanted to create a dreamy, romantic mood, and at the same time, capture the timidity and shyness we feel when it comes to turning a friendship into something more.
This song lays bare the mental seesaw we all experience when pondering, resisting, and falling into life’s best (and most vulnerable) adventure. It’s easy to write about butterflies in your stomach; they just flutter right out of you.
I am deeply inspired by male-female acoustic duets, so made sure to centre the harmony in “Falling,” creating a richly elevated and layered sound.
Creating “Falling” taught me about the magic of collaboration. Every person involved – from writing, to recording, to producing – added their own stylistic touch to the song, and the whole became greater than the sum of its parts.
Working with others is exactly how I want to challenge myself and grow as an artist, as well as a songwriter for other artists. I look forward to blending my skills with those of creatives whose expertise differ from mine to create new sounds.
