Interview With Estrela

1.how did the band form?

Well instrumentally, we have been playing together since we
were all in grade school. After searching for a singer for
several years going through different band names, we found
Bobby Lopez formed Estrela about one year ago.

2.what were your major influnces?

Well I can say that Incubus is a main major influence for
all of us. Others include Further Seems Forever, Dredge,
Mae, and The Mars Volta.

3.if you could have a three band bill who would they
be?

That would be a hard choice. Probably, Incubus, Further
Seems Forever (with Chris), and The Mars Volta.

4. what music do you class yourselves as?

Well I thought it was just rock, but I guess a lot of
people would call it emo or screamo. We are really coming
into our own sound in a lot of the new stuff we are
writing, so hopefully we can break away from a lot of
that.

5. where do you think you will be in 10 years?

Hopefully playing music somewhere, or being involved in
music someway.

6. what has been your best gig you have played so
far?

Probably a show we had with Silverstein, Spitalfield, and
diffuser. It was really fun, and a great turn out.

7. what made you want to go out and play
music?

Well I personally started playing guitar like in 5th grade.
As soon as I started figuring the basics I knew this is
something I could want to do forever.

8. so any new releases in the pipeline?

Yes we have a new EP coming out in mid-April so be on the
look out for it. It’s going to have a lot of new
material that I mentioned earlier.

9. who would most like to record a song with?

Brandon Boyed I think would be awesome.

10. if you could be on the simpsons where would the band
play?

Hmm, that’s a hard decision. I think it could be cool
to play on the roof of The Quickie Mart. Maybe Apoo could
do some guest vocals on a song or two. thanks for your time
