EM GEORGE RELEASES INDIE MAGIC WITH LATEST SINGLE “HOME”

Em George is a singer-songwriter from Sydney who delved into the songwriting world after discovering the sweet sounds of Carole King, Joni Mitchell, Leonard Cohen and Julia Jacklin. These influences created an introspective, intriguing artist who provides a very vintage feel to a style that still maintains a base of modernity. Em George’s sound has been heard across many platforms including global charts in Netherlands, the US as well as SBS 2, HBO and Foxtel. After releasing her EP Wolves in 2020 & two singles in 2021, Em has returned to bless our airwaves once again with the release of her latest single “Home” out now.

“Home” came together in Em’s ‘tiny’ studio apartment where the lyrics just flowed with a series of versus, then followed the melody a few months later. It’s final form was recorded at Golden Retriever Studios (NSW) and Hercules Street Studios (NSW) and co-produced by Pete Covington (Thelma Plumm, Middle Kids, Jack River) and Ryan Miller (Andy Golledge, Aodhan).

Em shares “My favourite thing about music is it connects you to a feeling or experience. I hope people listen to this song and relate to what I’m writing about and feel connected to those around them”.

“I had been feeling really down, hurt by a lot of people and was wondering why. I was also working and creating at full speed without any down time for myself and was exhausted. I realised I’d been letting people in who I shouldn’t and overextending myself to please others”. Em explains the meaning behind “Home” “The song is about creating boundaries for yourself, to not exhaust yourself for others and protect a space within yourself to create, grow and be at peace. But it’s also about being accountable, and realising that you attract what you seek”.

Em George has been a two-time finalist in the International Songwriting Competition and top five finalist in the Unsigned Only International Songwriting Competition in 2021. They’ve played the Thirroul Music Festival in 2021, collaborated with S. Koz (Madonna, Nicki Minaj, Dua Lipa, Ellie Goulding) and been featured on SBS.
