By Eleanor are an exciting new Aussie band worth checking out. This is what they had to say about it all.

1. Are you happy how things have gone for the band so far?

We’re all pretty stoked with the progress the band is making. We were thrown in the deep end being handpicked to support Tonight Alive on part of their Australian tour, for the second gig we’d ever played as a band. Since then we haven’t stopped getting our foot in every door possible.

2. What inspires the band when writing music?

Each band member has a passion for a different genre of music. Having always been good mates, when By Eleanor formed we began tying all of our musical influences together into our own product.
We try to write everything on a level that anyone can relate to, rather than making something specific and too personal.

3. What is your latest song about?

Our current single Never Wanna Say Goodbye tells the story of a rocky relationship through all the highs and lows, but at the end of the day overcoming all the problems and realizing what really matters. We created the film clip to try and emphasize the story line.

4. What do you like about touring?

Getting to know bands and making mates in areas we otherwise wouldn’t have had the opportunity to. Playing as many shows in as many areas as possible is our main goal.

5. How important you is touring regional alongside touring the cities?

Coming from a country town ourselves we know how rare it is for bands to pass through, so we know how important it is to keep the balance between playing city and regional shows.

6. What has been your favorite show to date?

Playing with Tonight Alive at The Zoo in Brisbane. Supporting, meeting and hanging out with a band that we’ve each been big fans of for a long time was a surreal experience. We love every gig we play though, no matter how big or small.

7. How does social media help you as a band?

If it wasn’t for social media we couldn’t have spread our music as quickly and easily as we have. We aim to keep in touch with our fans as often as possible, with regular Facebook updates and update videos.

8. How important is connecting with your fans?

From Facebook socializing, to chilling with the crowd after gigs, we know how important it is to connect with fans. It can be the difference between playing to an empty room or a sold out gig.

9. If you could have any body in a video clip who would it be?

Jared Leto. 30 Seconds to Mars is a big influence in our music, and let’s be real, you can’t go past a film clip that Jared Leto is involved in.

11. What’s your favorite venue to play at?

The Zoo in Brisbane, simply for the awesome sound it has and the unique atmosphere of what can feel like an intimate small room gig, but filled with world class acts.

12. What does 2014 have in store for the band?

2014 is filling up for us already. We have an east coast tour booked for March, playing in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne to promote our self titled EP and single Never Wanna Say Goodbye. Then we will be releasing a new single mid year we’ve just finished up recording, before heading back down to Sydney to record our second EP with the insanely talented Sonny Truelove at STL studios. With plenty of other national gigs to be announced for 2014 we’re keeping as busy as possible!
