An ever-changing creative enigma, Eden Mulholland has had a thrilling 2019, being announced as the New Zealand national support for Meg Mac, winning awards at the2019 Auckland Fringe Festival and announcing an Australian co-headline tour withCamarano. Though all the excitement and uplifting moments of his year, Eden asks, “How Am I Lonely” with his new single.
“How Am I Lonely” is like the humming or whistling we do when we’re anxious. A song for people struggling with depression and anxiety as Eden puts it, This song is an oddly optimistic look at the undercurrents of loneliness and homesickness that accompany me wherever I go. And always have.” A magic juxtaposition between sad lyrics and uplifting sounds, it’s the latest sonic exploration for Eden Mulholland.
“My loneliness often compounds when I am surrounded by loved ones and homesickness becomes acute when I return home. Even amidst the depth of this depression, my loneliness can feel like an old friend, a constant companion – which is both scary and strangely comforting. We go through our separate lives together and I hope this song makes us feel a little less alone.” – Eden Mulholland
2018 was another huge year for Eden, signing with US label AntiFragile Music(brainchild of Tom Sarig, best known as manager for Lou Reed, Against Me and Cake) and releasing singles“Forwarding Backwarding”, “Wild Animal” and“The Vanishing”. This year is already shaping up to be the same with the artist about to support Meg Mac on her New Zealand shows and co-headlining on an Australian tour with Camarano starting this month.
