Destiny Love new song Listen to the Wind

A new song baby was released! I’m really excited about and proud of this one. It’s called “Listen to the Wind

This song was born from a poem I had written on my fridge for many years after the birth of my daughter, nine years ago:
Listen to Wind.
Listen to the Wind on your Skin;
It carries magic information.

This little sticky note hung on my freezer and reminded me to go outside and get a breath of fresh air when I couldn’t meet my comfort needs through ice-cream.

Flashback three years ago… I was taking an in-depth course for writing music for “sync placement” (for ads, television, and film). I was really inspired by the idea that I could sneak uplifting, spiritually nourishing music into mainstream media. This sticky note had long-since disappeared but the pork jumped right back into my mind.

and the rest of the song just flowed right out of my mouth, based on a cue that was given from the course. The cue was a “hook” with the lines “Let’s Go” is a highly sought-after phrase from the commercial world. The lyrics then flowed easily, like this:
Let’s go to the Mountains
let’s go to the sea
lets go move those boulders
between you and me

And then these lyrics came through to open the song…
Even mountains can be moved
Even oceans can be soothed
Even the hardest stone can be grooved
Listen, listen to the wind.

Then for years, the song just… rested. I felt that the sync course took its toll on my soul, and my musical inspiration felt a bit zapped between that and being severely sleep-deprived due to my challenging postpartum experience.

Fast-forward to August of 2022… it came time to leave Hawaii and I had just found a recording studio that I LOVED (DWP Sounds in Hilo). I had intended to only record “Weeping Willow” and “Sing and Be Happy” (aka Buddha Realm) (both of these tracks were released last month BTW)
BUT I instead went to the studio nearly everyday and recorded not only two, but 12 tracks in under six weeks. Record breaking for me.
I knew really quickly that I just had to record “Listen to the Wind”. It was calling to me loud and clear. Like a big wind. And I’m so glad I did, as my friend (and amazing session musician) Stuart J. Johnson really brought this song to the next level with bass, electric guitar, and keys. I played ukulele, my jaguar hand-drum from Guatemala, shakers and percussion, and of course, I sang.
