Cossbysweater
Allison Goertz is Cossbysweater a talented singer songwriter from America who is doing good things, I loved her way of writing songs and knew I just had to interview her for the site. Read on and find out why I think this girl is going places and why is making a name for herself.
1. Are you surprised how things have taken off for you?
Absolutely! Although, I’d like to hope this is just the beginning, I couldn’t be happier with how things have gone thus far. Every ounce of attention or praise has been a lovely surprise. I’d be writing these songs regardless. They make me happy. So to know other people like them too is incredibly heart warming.
2. How does the Internet and social media play a big part in what you do?
My online presence is integral to my “success”. I couldn’t exist without YouTube, Facebook, Twitter etc. Since my song subjects are so specific, finding an audience in coffee shops and local venues would be near impossible.
3. What inspired you when writing the album?
All the songs were inspired by my childhood loves. This ranges from movies to a song about my Dad (Sonny Jim). I relate immensely to the characters I write about, and writing about a fictional character makes addressing my own feelings easier.
4. Are you happy with the feedback so far?
So far I’ve only heard really sweet and warm reviews. We didn’t have a publicity budget, so I imagine the only people who have listened to it were fans to begin with.
5. How did you get involved with Arrested Development?
I entered the Netflix contest “You’re Gonna Get Some Walk-Ons” where participants created original AD inspired art submissions. My submission took the form of a song called “Maeby One Day”. I was one of 6 lucky winners who got cast as extras on the show. I actually got to sing a quick lyric and had my guitar smashed to bits. My character was credited as “Reveler”. It’s extremely exciting to be part of the AD history.
6. What has been your favorite show to date?
Of all time? Ever? I only get one?! I have so many revolving favorites which include Peep Show, Twilight Zone, Spaced, and Arrested Development. But my one true favorite will always be The Simpsons. There’s not much better TV than seasons 2-8.
7. Who has been your biggest supporter and help of your music?
My parents have both been very supportive emotionally and creatively. But my biggest supporter has been Adam Busch. Adam found my YouTube channel and took a chance with me. He took me under his wing and together we produced the album with our friend Brian Speiser. They brought my songs to life and helped me make my visions a reality.
8. If you could have any body in a video clip who would it be?
I’m assuming you mean WITH me and not just a video clip for me to watch on loop? Pee Wee Herman. To both questions, really.
9. Who would you most like to collaborate with?
Easy. The band I made up which is comprised of: Flight of the Conchords, Paul McCartney, Steve Martin, and The Muppets.
