Buttercup takes femme fatale Gia Ransome to a whole new level

Photo is by Monique Lewis

Known for her darkness and melodrama, Gia Ransome stuns with yet another beguiling release. “Buttercup’ is an all-encompassing alt-rock clash of lust and anger, love and hate, want and regret. Centered around the lyric ‘I should have known that you were trouble’, it tells a tale of an intoxicating infatuation and its inevitable consequences. Gia’s ethereal and haunting voice is pushed to new limits in her rockiest song yet, singing with her unique prowess and a healthy dose of attitude.
This is Gia’s first release of 2024, following a huge year in 2023, during which she debuted with her single  ‘Boots’, which was nominated for Music ACTS’s ‘Best Independent Debut’ award as well as in the 2023 Canberra Short Film Festival for its music video. She released two more singles, ‘Crush’ and ‘Morning Light’, and a contrastingly intimate acoustic EP, ‘Winter’. She embarked on a 7 date tour of Australia’s east coast, played Floriade Nightfest’s main stage, and joined countless line-ups in her local area.

Out the 23rd of May
