Brisbane’s Cub Scouts Crack CMJ Top 20

Hailing from what is quickly becoming the indie-pop capital of Australia, Brisbane, Cub Scouts have moved swiftly after crowd-pleasing sets at Falls Festival and BIGSOUND to set their sights on the USA.

Moving quickly from #68 to #29 and now, #16 in the CMJ Charts, it follows an extremely successful year for the band, who in 2012 won the Queensland Music Award for Best Pop Song and Song Of The Year for ‘Do You Hear’.

The Told You So EP followed closely after, with the title track gaining attention and garnering praise for its retro-laden video clip, bouncing bassline and ethereal vocals. ‘Told You So’ also showed that the band won’t be a flashpoint in the varied landscape of Australian music, with strong alternative radio support including triple j, FBI, and 4ZZZ.

Having achieved this massive 2012 without the backing of a label or manager, Cub Scouts aren’t interested in resting, already investigating options for overseas touring and preparing the follow up release to the Told You So EP. 2013 is set to be the Year Of the Cub Scouts.
