Interview With Antonia DeNardo By Chris 2/5/06

Antonia DeNardo is the host of Good Morning Four States
and also is an actress.
I was impressed by her Bio on the network website and I
knew she was worth featuring.
I was so stooked she agreed to do the interview.
She is smart and talented and that was worth an
interview.
So read on and find out what she had to say.

Antonia
Bio on KODE website

1. How did you get into broadcasting?

In high school I was asked to host a local TV show in
Dallas, TX called D on TV. I got to interview NSYNC and
Shaq. O’Neill and I had so much fun doing it that I decided
to go on and major in Broadcast Journalism in college at
Southern Methodist University.

2. How did you become the host of Good Morning Four
States?

Upon graduating from college, I moved to LA to further
pursue acting and hosting. I did a hosting segment for FOX
Italia’s Hollywood Style and soon after my college
professor, mentor, and now good friend Carrie Criado, put
me in touch with the News Director at KODE and the rest is
history.

3. What has been the highlight of that?

Having the opportunity to do an hour-and-a half live TV
show every morning, five days a week has been the best
learning experience of my life. Everyday the news changes,
as well as the guests, so you never get bored. I love to
meet people and learn about new subjects, and I feel very
lucky to have a job that allows me to do soon a daily
basis.

4. What has been the highlight of your career so
far?

I must say I was honored to be one of FHM”S Top 20 sexiest
News lady’s in the nation, but I think the real highlight
of my career has been making it this far and not making any
major mess-ups on air. I can be kind of a klutz!!!!!!

5. Who have you enjoyed interviewing the most?

I have gotten to meet so many interesting people so it is
hard to choose. However, I would have to say I was really
moved after interviewing a young-woman my age named Aimee
who struggled with drug addiction. Her honesty and openness
to share her life’s most intimate details with me, made me
so appreciative of my family and what I have in life. I
followed her for a year and even though she tired to turn
her life around when I met her, she ended up in jail and
had her two beautiful children taken away and then she
finally hit rock bottom. I think of her all the time, and
pray she finds the strength to turn her life into something
good. Those are the kind of interviews I love, ones that
make a mark on your heart.

6. Is their any kind of show you really would want to
host?

I would love to have a show like Good Morning America. A
morning show that has a combination of hard news, feature
stories, and entertainment would be my dream job.

7. Did you enjoy being an actress?

Acting is my first passion. I am pretty busy with GMFS, but
I am still able to do a few jobs here and there. In
December of 2005 I had a part in the independent feature
film “A Little Party.” I played Gabriella. It reminded me
how much I love film acting. I hope to be able to balance
both acting/hosting throughout my career.

8. How did it all start?

When I was 7 years old I decided I wanted to be on TV. I
called a local TV station and told the first person I got
directly that I wanted to be on TV. After being transferred
around a few times I finally got a woman who was willing to
talk to an inquisitive 7-year-old. She told me that in
order to get paying jobs; I needed to get an agent. That
night, I left my notes that I had taken from my
conversation with the woman out on the kitchen table for my
Mom to see, and it was then that she started taking me
seriously. From there she called a few acting school and
enrolled me in some acting classes. Soon after, I was
spotted by a local talent agent and began working doing
small jobs in Dallas.

9. What are some of your favourite movies?

The Notebook, Troop Beverly Hills, Splash, & Sweet Home
Alabama.

10. What movies that you have seen recently you have
really enjoyed?

I saw Crash and loved it. I went to see the movie knowing
nothing about it and was so moved by the issues it
addressed that I started telling everyone I know that they
had to see it. I also recently saw “Thank You for Smoking.”
It was so well-written and entertaining. I highly recommend
both these movies.

11. What are some of your favourite musical
artists?

All my friends make fun of me because I am so bad with
games like name that song or artist, but…I love 80’s
music, oldies, and pop/dance. Madonna, The Police, Doobie
Bros., just to name a few!

12. What would we find on Antonia DeNardo stereo at the
moment?

A cd my best friend Lisa made for me with a mix of songs
like Weezer, Elton John, Jessica Simpson…a variety of
artists…

13. Was the change from being an actress to broadcasting
easy?

It seemed natural to me because I love meeting people. In
broadcasting you get to meet people and interview them on
TV using your own words, unlike acting. Of course in acting
you are reading a script, so as long as you memorize your
lines you’re okay. Broadcasting can definitely be a
challenge if your mind goes blank, or you get tongue tied.
However, that is one of the main things I love about my
job…it keeps you humble. I used to be scared of
making a fool of myself, but now I have come to realize it
is all part of the job and it lets people know we are real
people and by NO MEANS perfect!!

14. Do you think that offering TV shows on the web will
help the networks?

I think so. Personally, I don’t think I’d watch TV on my
computer, but I think we are still in the preliminary
stages of this concept and it remains to be seen how it
will benefit the networks.

15. Any Last words??

Go after your dreams, no matter how out of reach they may
seem. Life is too precious to have regrets, so make
everyday better than the last!!!

Thanks to Antonia for doing it, she rocks
