1. What was the inspiration behind the new song?

Infatuation with something. Something that makes your mum ask ‘what the fuck is wrong with you? at the dinner table. Not that mum would necessarily say it like that – she’s a saint.

 

2. What inspires you when writing music?

Good music with slightly left of field song elements and arrangements. Anything that isn’t formula driven.

 

3. What buzz do you get from playing live?

Like a coke addict in Bolivia.

 

4. Do you have any thing you do before you play live?

Make sure I remember my lyrics and what really funny banter I’ll include in between songs. To date, I’ve unsuccessful on both fronts.

 

5. Is an album in the works?

The single is from my album ‘Everything is Calmer Underwater’. I’m currently working on a follow up record with producer, Kieran Kenderessey.

 

6. What inspires you when writing music?

Sir David Attenborough. Or – good music with slightly left of field song elements and arrangements. Anything that isn’t formula driven.

 

7. What can people expect from your show?

A bit of punk rock, big walls of sound and perhaps a slight (hopefully temporary case) of tinnitus.

 

8. If you could collaborate with any one who would it be?

Kylie Minogue, Explosions in the Sky, Sleepmakeswaves, 65 days of static, Calvin Harris, Josh Homme, Smith Street Band.

 

9. If you could have anybody in a video clip who would it be?

Natalie Portman. It would be a romantic feature and we’d play with light sabres and listen to the Shins in between takes.

 

10. What does the rest of 2014 have in store for you?

Australian tour, follow up single, new album, marriage (not to Natalie Portman though).
