Well I’ve been running this website for over ten years. Almost 15 now which is amazing to me and still blows my mind when I get called out of the blue to do an interview with someone at the last minute and Beth Hart is one of those people. She was a pleasure to talk to, I told her that LA Song is one of my favorite songs of her and she was happy to hear that and it’s on of hers too. We talked about her album Bang Bang Boom Boom which she did with Kevin Shirley who likes to record in days not months a way of recording which she loves as she hates waiting around for stuff to be done. We talk about my favorite song off the album Everything Must Change which is amazing way to finish off an album.
The new album Bang Bang Boom Boom opened up a whole new world for with the places she had played at and of course new fans which has doubled. The album has been only released in Europe & USA but this year Australia will get to hear how amazing this album is, if they don’t have it already. She had briefly met Kevin Shirley years ago but once she met Joe Bonamassa who she worked on two amazing albums with, Don’t Explain the first Joe Bonamassa & Beth Hart album was done in four days and the new Joe & Beth album Seesaw which was done in five days . Basically they recorded the album like you are playing a show. After the four days Kevin Shirley would do his magic before mastering. she got to work with Kevin on her album. The recording process is the same for the Joe albums as the new Beth album it was recorded in five days, get them done quickly as possible and this interview says all the three albums are must haves.
About her song writing because she has been influenced by so many different genres growing up that she would be an eclectic artist. Her first part of her career would either be singer songwriter or hard rock. Then she made and album called My California which she says was very singer songwriter, she loved it but she thought that her well was empty. She felt she did not have anything else to say. Then Joe came along and she did that first album, she knew she had a new well to draw from. She basically said to her manager whatever you do, I want Kevin Shirley to make her next original album and that is what happened.
She says Aussie audiences will get a lot of energy from her show, some wonderful stories and of course some amazing players in her band. Then their will be times in the show where she will break it down and play the piano or the acoustic guitar and build it back up with her amazing band.
She was happy how the Joe albums were received and how Kevin Shirley and everybody did an amazing job. She says she will record a new album this year of her own music and another Joe album in winter. The last question I ask which I always ask on any interview who would you have in your video clip if you could have anybody and she says the best answer Tom Waits. What can I say but still blows my mind I got to chat to Beth Hart and I will so be at the show. I know it will be amazing as she is an amazing talent. Get her new album and the Joe album’s you will not be dissapointed, She delivers.
