Katie Brianna – Dark Side Of The Morning Album Review

Katie Brianna – Dark Side Of The Morning (Self Released)

This is the long-awaited debut album for Katie Brianna, and it’s a solid debut for this Aussie country singer songwriter.  The opening track What It Means is a solid country tune, good songwriting vocals, musicianship, the use of backing vocals works.  Dark Side Of The Morning is a solid ballad.  Great vocals, musicianship and good lyrics.  Oh Night has an edge to the tune, the way the song is constructed, the lyrics, the use of the electric guitar, their kind of jazz influence in the track.  Good tune.  Siren Call is a true blue country track, love the use of the fiddle, all the instruments just really gel together and create a really great song.  Pretty Little Shell is my pick off the album, I love the use of the piano, the song you could say is a ballad.  Katie voice is really good here.  The lyrics and melodies are just good as is the musicianship.  Birthday Girl is another pick off me, the song has melodies, musicianship, vocals and lyrics.  It’s a good tune and is kind of catchy in a way to me.  I’m Not Learning is another good tune, good musicianship, melodies, vocals and lyrics.  Bird Calling Symphony is another great tune, Katie voice shines, the use of violin is a nice touch and adds to the song.
Drink featuring Kevin Bennett is another great tune, well written and performed, has a rock edge to the tune.  Never Think Of Me The Same has great melodies, lyrics and solid musicianship.  Like a lot of the songs off the album, the use of backing vocals, really add to the songs.  Risk It All finishes off the album very well with just Katie, guitar and accordion and leaves on a great notice.  The production of this album is first class, the musicianship is amazing.  This is a first class Australian album by a country singer songwriter who you need to hear about.  Check It Out.
