TV Players is a talent Synthwave act who I have been a fan of for a while now. Having an interview was a must.

- How did TV Players come about?
Sergey:
It all began in 2015. Andrey contacted me and asked
about the technical aspects of music production in the
Quasar project. I suggested collaborate on his idea.
After the track was completed, we decided to launch a
new project and began working on it on a long-term
basis.
Andre:
Agreed. The TV Players project can be traced back to our
collaboration on the “Distant Memory” track. I was
impressed with Sergey’s work in Quasars. At the time, I
was exploring the retro wave genre and wanted a similar
sound. You know the rest )
- Are you happy with the response to your music?
Andrei:
Well, you can give the pouty face and feel unappreciated,
but that’s the way it is. Let me put it this way: we do
what we love without looking back. The only thing that
bothers me is that we’re 1,000 miles apart and live
performances present a challenge. Concert activity would
certainly help the band’s growth.
Sergey:
I am pleased with the response. Of course, one always
wants more, but the project has garnered warm reviews
and a dedicated fanbase.
- How does a song start for you?
Sergey:
Typically, a song begins with a rough draft played on
guitar or keyboard. Even in its simplest form, it should
be memorable. We then try to translate this passage into
a complete mix with all instruments. If we’re pleased
with the result, we develop it into a full track.
- How important are sites like newretrowave to what you
guys are doing?
Andrei:
Of utmost importance. Being featured on such a
platform is crucial for promoting our project and the
genre. Taking the opportunity i would like to say thank you guys for your work!
Sergey:
New Retrowave is certainly important for us due
to its large audience. Thanks to them, many people
interested in retro wave music discovered us. The number
of views on our tracks uploaded to New Retrowave’s
channel is in the tens of thousands. It greatly assists
our promotion efforts.
- If you guys could play with anybody, who would it be?
Sergey:
I would collaborate with Autograph, Earthlings,
Cruise, Eduard Artemyev, Vladimir Kuzmin, Alexander
Barykin, Igor Sarukhanov, AC/DC, Madonna, Michael
Jackson, Whitesnake, Mr. Mister, Anoraak, Electric
Youth. Although this music is diverse, and some are no
longer with us, I answer this way because it’s asked and
I’m not forbidden to dream. This music lives within me
as long as I do.
Andrew:
It would be great to be on the same stage as
Timecope, 1983; Miami Nights, 1984; Lebrock.
6.If you could create the ultimate video clip what would
it be about?
Sergey:
My thoughts turn to the 70s and 80s. An era when
music held immense social and cultural significance.
- How important is social media to you guys?
Andrei:
In today’s world, it’s essential. Unfortunately,
we don’t dedicate enough time to it. We have to choose
between creating a track and managing social media.
Ultimately, music creation is more significant to us.
Sergey:
Social media cannot be overlooked, like it or
not. Personally, I enjoy being a musician but today’s
life demands either hiring someone to manage social
media or doing it personally. We do the latter, though
there are friends who assist us greatly and almost
unselfishly.
- Do you write out of inspiration or when it comes to
you?
Sergey:
Inspired. Though working on a track entails
various stages, some of which may be mundane, much of
what I create personally comes to me as an inspiration,
discovery, often even in dreams.
Andrei:
Inspired. But often, it takes hours to refine an
idea.
- What next for you guys?
Andrei:
We’re working on a new track. Also planning a
mini-album release. Moving forward. Slowly, but surely.
