Jemma Nicole Uncovers ‘BLOOD ON YOUR HANDS’

We all get our hands dirty once in a while, but it’s not all good when you have Blood On Your Hands. And sometimes, our greatest weapon lies within us — by speaking our own truth. Yet, not everyone is free to unveil their layers or possesses the courage to brave the storm; but a song can speak for them if they can’t. This unapologetically well-written track is the comeback of Jemma Nicole in the indie scene after a few years hiatus. This time, more than ever, with no holds barred.

The intriguing storyline of the song will haunt you to your core with its alternative pop-rock sound which was produced, mixed, and mastered by Melbourne multi-instrumentalist Damian Caffarella. Jemma has always wanted to convey important messages through her music and her success at this craft has been noticed, even getting a mention in the prestigious Rolling Stone. Her newest track is unprecedented and another offering to her listeners wrapped with a relevant social topic that everyone has to hear.

“I wrote this banger with rage and I wrote it fast. I was angry and wild about how men in positions of power and in general can treat and harm women and marginalised groups and make dangerous decisions regarding them and our bodies.” – Jemma Nicole

Her voice is a wake up call to the people and her music is coupled with intention. Empowered as she is, ‘Blood On Your Hands’ is an experimentation sonically compared to her former releases, stepping away from sweeter country fields to the darker tones reminiscent of Americana with a ray of pop shine. Her authenticity has always been there and her rodeo/rock n’ roll sound has remained. What may be different is how sharp her pen was when she wrote this song to strike where it hurts with the hookline, “You call yourself a good man but you’re the one with blood on your hands.” Undoubtedly, her fierce attitude comes from her musical influences in the likes of Madonna, Joni Mitchell, and Taylor Swift — powerhouse women who continue to break barriers in music. Her newest single will be out October 28 followed by a music video premiering November 4 which is a product of Triple J’s Level Up Grant given to unique and hardworking artists like Jemma. Make sure to watch out for her future releases as she continues being limitless in her art.
