Sons Of Rico – In Rico Glaciers Album Review

Sons Of Rico – In Rico Glaciers (Firestarter Music/Inertia)

Sons Of Rico are back with their latest album In Rico Glaciers.  It’s starts off in fine fashion with an upbeat energy catchy number.  Against The Grain shows off why I liked the band in the first place with great melodies, musicianship, vocals and lyrics.  Love the use of the keyboard.  A pick of the album for me.  I’m Not Thinkin’ About You hits down the same path another catchy tune, could see it easily been played on radio, it’s got the right vibe, energy and song structure to work.  Alex vocals are on fire here.  You Don’t What You’re Missin’ is another killer track, the use of the keys on track is used well, it’s got a brit pop vibe to me the track does.  It’s an energetic numbers, delivers with good musicianship, vocals and of course another rocking track.  In My Eyes is another good tune, could see this being played radio and that being Triple J, it’s got that vibe, song structure and energy that kids would love.  The chorus is a nice touch.  The guitar playing on the song is excellent.  Adam drumming is excellent here, like it is on the rest of the album.  Get To You, is another song that shows off the talents of Alex songwriting plus his vocals and lyrics.  The musicianship like the rest of the album is first class. Catchy, enjoyable song.  Striking Stone is one of the picks off the album, it’s a really catchy pop tune, love the use of the keyboard, vocals are excellent. Guitar playing is good here.  Just My Type is another well written tune, it’s a really pop number, it’s catchy and well written.  Adjustable Value has a cool intro with the keyboard, it’s another pick off the album for me, it’s a really well structured and crafted song, it’s catchy, musicianship is amazing, it’s a bit different to the other songs but to me that is contributed by the use of keyboard on the song and how it is used.  Under The Radar has a cool intro it’s got a bit of pop vibe to it, well written tune, musicianship is excellent.  Maybe I Should Go is another winner of a track and finishes off the album well.  It’s a well written track with great musicianship with solid vocals and lyrics.  This is the first time in ages and especially for an Aussie band or artist where every song is good, they offer something to the table.  The album well produced, with solid songs, energy and passion plus delivering something that fire in the music reviewers heart.  That good unique music is still alive and well.  If you love good indie rock with a hint pop.  You will love Sons Of Rico with their new album In Rico Glaciers.  This deserves to be played over and over.
