Melissa Jane Dichiera is a great aussie
singer songwriter who I found.
She has great tunes that are joy to the air.
She also writes her songs as well.
I really liked what I heard and was keen to give her some
publicity.
She also acts as well which is cool
She is a new favourite of mine and will be gladly
supporting her career.

Resume

1. How did you get into music?

I started singing and performing at the age of 5 and just
continued from there. I don’t really remember a time that I
was not involved in either singing, dancing, music or
acting. As a young child of 5 I started performing with the
Johnny Young Performance Group, with my first TV appearance
at the age of 7 on the Early Bird Show.

2. Who were your idols growing up?

My Idols growing up were Top female divas, Aretha Franklin,
Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston etc

3. Who were your influences?

I have always loved powerful, soulful singers such as
Aretha Franklin, Stevie Wonder, Etta James and funky bands
like Jamiroquai

4. Was it fun working in a pop group at Universal
Studios Japan?

I loved being in my pop group Les Bijoux. We were a family
and shared many wonderful experiences together like co
hosting the Christmas Special TV show Ohayo Asahi.

5. Did you gain a lot by doing that?

I worked with top Music Producers and Directors and was
lucky to learn from their wealth of expertise. I was also
fortunate to perform with top jazz musicians in
Japan.

6. Has the Internet helped with your music?

The Internet is definitely a great tool to let people hear
your music. I find that I meet people in person and then
direct them to my sites so that they can research me more
if they are interested in working with me.

7. Do you think tools like MySpace are useful?

MySpace is great to keep up to date with an artist’s up and
coming performances. You can get the word out to all your
contacts with the Event Invite, I think that is one of the
best features.

8. What have responses been like to your music on the
web?

I always receive good feedback, which is great. I have had
a lot of hits in the few months that I have posted my
songs.

9. How is the writing and recording process for the
album going?

It is going great, I have just recently written another 4
songs which I am currently recording and hoping to post on
MySpace in a few weeks. I seem to have a lot to write
about, lots of music flowing from me at the moment.

10. What inspires you when writing music?

Life is my inspiration. I am heavily influenced by my
emotions, what I hear is happening to people or in the
world. Experiences I have or see other people have. I feel
it all and write songs from it.

11. Have you had much response from record
labels?

No not yet. I am only just starting to approach record
labels. I first started with approaching music producers to
record and produce my songs and the response and help was
fantastic. I have currently recorded 6 songs and will now
be approaching record labels to help me take my music
further.

12. What has been your favorite gig to date?

One of my favorite gigs was my final performance with Les
Bijoux in Japan where we played to an over crowed audience
of 2000 or more fans. There were a lot of tears from the
fans and lot of love felt. I realized at that performance
how much my singing was appreciated and loved and I was so
grateful for the dedication and support I received from
fans.

13. Would you like to work on movie
soundtracks?

I would love to work on movie soundtracks. Something I
would love to do is actually act in a feature film and have
my music on the soundtrack as well.

14. What gives you a greater buzz singing or
acting?

I love both. Singing is different as you kind of have an
adrenalin experience where you feel like you are flying
when you have a big crowd to perform to and a lot of
cheering. Acting is very different as it is more intimate.
The buzz you get in acting is to be all the different
things you have wanted to be in life. It is free license to
explore your personality and different work
professions.

15. How did you get involved with Universal Studios
Japan theme park?

I attended an international audition where they were
looking for 1 western girl to join three Japanese girls in
an all girl pop r’n’b group. I spent the whole day going
through an audition process and then was offered a contract
three months later to be a part of Les Bijoux

17. Who have you has helped you out the most?

My Music Producer from Les bijoux has been most helpful and
inspiring. He had a lot of belief in my talent and inspired
me to take more advance steps in my original music. He has
also helped me in producing my original music.

18. What has been the highlight so far?

I have really enjoyed all the traveling I have experienced
with my music. Japan was a fantastic musical experience,
performing in Les Bijoux and also performing with brilliant
jazz musicians

19. What next for Melissa Jane Dichiera?

I am applying for a US Visa and hoping to do some film and
television work in America. I will also be looking for a
Record Label either in Australia or America to help me
release my album. My biggest goal is to release my solo
debut album. I love music and want to share my songs.
