Interview With Waymon Boone, from Headrush By Chris

Headrush are a very cool band.
They write some of the most catchy alternative rock tunes
which are written well.
I wanted to find out more.

Website

1.How did the band form?

I used to front a band called “Splender” and Mike was in a
band called “Simon Says” we met on tour and quickly became
friends. When we left our bands in time i called him up and
he was into playing together. I was in New York and
relocated to Sacramento. We put the word out and found
Allison who was playing in a jazz band playing upright
bass.

2.What were your major influences?

Well, for me personally id have to say. The Beatles,The
Jackson 5, Bowie and Fleetwood Mac are the 4 artist that
changed my life.

3.If you could have a three band bill who would they
be?

well needless to say id play with Bowie.. that would be
enough..lol

4. What music do you class yourselves as?

id say we are an alternative rock band

5. Where do you think you will be in 10 years?

smoking a cigar in seedy bar like Jake Lamata from Raging
Bull

6. What has been your best gig you have played so
far?

Well, with Splender I pretty much toured the world.. but
one show that stands out was playing in Florida at a
baseball stadium with Def Lepard.

7. What made you want to go out and play
music?

when i was 5years old i saw the Jackson 5 at Madison Square
Garden and i turned to my mom and said “i can do
that”

8. What are your thoughts on file sharing and the mp3
format?

the more the merrier, nothing wrong with spreading the
word

9. Who would most like to record a song with?

Julian Lennon.. i hung out with him a few years ago in
Paris and i was asked to come to London to write for his
next record. We got too busy to work it all out but i
suppose it still left me wanting to sing with him. Also
another fantasy is Bjork.

10. Do you think the internet is good for helping bands
get known?

the proof is right here… plain and simple. YES.
