THE SWEET APES

SYDNEY POST HARDCORE ROCKERS ARE IN ‘FLIGHT’ ON THEIR WAY TO THE TOP

18-year-old Sydney female fronted quintet The Sweet Apes have proved once again why they are soaring to the top of the Australian heavy music food chain.

In celebration of touring with The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus and Red Beard nationally, The Sweet Apes have just delivered a brand spanker called ‘Flight’ which elevates their song writing maturity and still retains the same character and sweet flavor the act is renowned for.

At such a young age The Sweet Apes have crossed off the bucket list of what most artists would only ever dream to achieve, with appearances on Soundwave Festival, Pushover Festival, touring on Sounds Loud Festival and extensive radio play through Triple J and Community Radio stations nation wide.

The band has recently signed on with Kingdom Sounds for management who is preparing the band for a huge 2014 and have reported to have significant third party interest globally that have expressed interest in working with the act.

After The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus tour is complete, The Sweet Apes will head straight back out on the road to tackle another tour of their own embedding their reputation as a group of kids not shy to put in what it takes to conquer all.

“Wow.  I’m impressed.  For such a young band, this song is a f*’n killer!  Great to hear some mighty female vox over the top of such heavy riffs.  Look forward to more”.

Nick Findlay – Triple J

“If you’ve always wanted Paramore to pack more of a post-hardcore punch, then you’ve found your band!”

Dom Alessio – Triple J

“THE SWEET APES have made a name for themselves with an astounding ear for melody, contrasted with the aggression and intensity that is inherent within the hardcore genre.”.

Jordan Nash – SF Media

UNBROKEN EXPANSE

EUREKA!!!  GOLD FOUND AGAIN IN THE OUTBACK… EXCEPT THIS TIME, IT’S IN THE SHAPE OF ROCK N ROLL

UNBROKEN EXPANSE have just released their debut self titled EP and are announcing a tour, which includes a schedule with Aussie rock legends British India.

The 4 piece Rock n Rollers from Tennant Creek, Northern Territory have been touring the country relentlessly, packing up the van and driving across the hot desert to wherever they could land a gig.

UNBROKEN EXPANSE has received praise from Triple J and many other industry heavyweights as well as been added to radio stations all around the country.  They have also shared the stage with British India, Frenzal Rhomb, The Living End, Dead Letter Circus, Birds of Tokyo and The Cat Empire.

Their self-titled EP is a straight up no bullshit Aussie rock escapade reminiscent to Grinspoon, You Am I, early Silverchair, The Bronx, Guns N Roses and Motorhead.

Catch UNBROKEN EXPANSE on one of the below dates, there’s not a soul on the planet who wouldn’t be mesmerized by their live performance.

“Tennant Creek’s favourite sons… Lots of promise here.  It’s kind of like The Pogues if they existed during Australia’s ’70s pub rock days.  Rough, but energetic”.

Dom Alessio – Triple J

“Unbroken Expanse warmed the crowd with their energy, and by intermission time I was comparing their explosive energy to that of AIR winners DZ Deathrays”.

Avrille Bylok-Collard – Beat Magazine

“The four-piece have flown in from the Northern Territory to play tonight and boy, is it worth it!  They’re animated, demonic and boisterous – blistering through a set of solid hard rock”.

THE MUSIC & WARP MAGAZINE presents:

A Festival Called
PANAMA
After introducing itself to the world with the incredible announcement of Charles Bradley, Husky, and The Frowning Clouds, PANAMA Festival would like to welcome to the forests of Tasmania:

Saskwatch
Super Wild Horses
The Babe Rainbow
Holy Holy
Mckisco
&
Tiger Choir
+More TBA

Legendary Melbourne soul outfit Saskwatch (pictured) bring their electric live revue to the hills of Tasmania to headline the opening night of the event. Powered by the tremendous vocals of front woman Nkechi Anele and incorporating fast-paced drumming, hand-claps, and an utterly ecstatic brass section, Saskwatch have a reputation for bringing a vibrant and energetic stage show not to be missed.
“If you’re yet to experience the sensation that is the swirling hurricane of unmitigated soul put forth by Saskwatch, then you’ve only got yourself to blame.” – Beat Magazine

Melbourne-based duo Super Wild Horses offer a rousing, minimalist take on post-punk influenced garage pop. Comprised of guitar/drums/keyboards/vocal switch-hitters Amy Franz and Hayley McKee, this all-girl duo have played to sold out rooms all over the country.

Hailing from Rainbow Bay in sunny Queensland, The Babe Rainbow deliver perfectly shambolic, sun soaked, 60’s monterey pop. Their latest single ‘Love Forever’ is dead on.  Click here to watch “Love Forever”.

Holy Holy burst to the scene in 2013 with their killer debut ‘Impossible Like you’ causing a stir with it’s glassy, cascading guitar lines and washed out syncopated rhythms. Comprised of composers from Brisbane and Melbourne, the 5-piece are bringing their reverb-soaked tunes to PANAMA.
Click here to watch “Impossible Like You”.

Brisbane composer Mckisko’s works have gained critical acclaim for their deft melodies and rich layered productions. She has supported the giants of the genre including Bon Iver, Juana Molina and Jose Gonzales.

Finally, homegrown Tasmanian heroes Tiger Choir are a four-piece band delivering eclectic sample-pop with wild guitar lines over falsetto choruses, drum machines and tangled synthesizers. In 2012 they released their first full-length album, Unicycles, and since then have toured the country with the likes of Deerhunter, The Drums and Regurgitator, building a steady following as they go.

Located in the forests of North-Eastern Tasmania, A Festival Called
PANAMA is a unique music and arts experience to be held over two
days on the 8th and 9th of March 2014.

Limited Tickets for the foundation event will go on sale on December 1st.

Rad new video clip for the song Split by Melbourne electronic Duo De̊ǰa. This is what they had to say about it and see them at Paradise festival this weekend

Inspired by everything from childhood horror/fantasy board games to 80s/90s sci-fi and movies like The Fifth Element, it’s best watched with headphones on and the lights off.

Cool song by Your Favorite Enemies and here is a little bit more about them

Montreal based Your Favorite Enemies possesses a distinctive blend of dirty and polished type of sonic textures, along with an introspective poetry and a symbolist type of lyrical approach that gathered fanatics from all different musical backgrounds into a defining communion of high level noise, post-punk, psych, shoegaze and prog rock.

Fierce human rights advocates devoting every aspects of their activities based on their community values, the sextet remained faithful to their dedicated old school DIY ethos, upon which they established the fundamental of the band, founded “Hopeful Tragedy Records”, their own label venture and turned a unique artsy catholic church into their own recording studio where they recorded their most recent musical projects, including the recent EP “Youthful Dreams Of An Old Empire”.

Sonically twisted and dreamy, lyrically juxtaposed melancholic symbolism and post-modernist impressionism, added to the band’s singular creative let go and insanely particular type of live performances, are amongst the few aspects that turned attracted musical fans into a pleiad of devoted fanatics, that led the band from New York to Paris, from Berlin to Shanghai, from London to Tokyo and that ultimately made Your Favorite Enemies one of the most exciting, intriguing and artistically fascinating ventures to emerge on the musical front scene over the last couple of years. Here follows their brand new single and accompanying video from latest long-player “Between Illness and Migration” .

Paul Conrad is a Sydney singer songwriter this is his new song Heresy Baby which is a cracker of tune. He got talent and I can see this doing wonders for him.

He is some one worth checking out and I reckon he will be solid live.

Out Loud is doco which asks this

OUT LOUD, the movie, asks the most visible (and audible) human examples of living out loud – musicians, artists, photographers, scientists, writers and other creatively-focussed folks – how on earth they live a life they love, for a living.

They have interviewed these people for the doco Jonah Matranga, Henry Rollins, Chuck Ragan and Kevin Seconds

I like the idea of this documentary and that why I am giving it a plug. I think it will be something worth putting some money towards as it will be an interesting documentary to watch.
